do you shop the sales or just buy whatever you need regardless of whether or not it's on sale?

Do you buy name brand or store brand.

I shop the sales religiously (I'm even becoming my mother and going to various stores depending on the sales and prices Chat Icon). If a sale is really good, I stock up (bread at Stop and Shop was $1 last week... I bought about 4 loaves and put them in the freezer). I also will buy store brand if it's on sale.

Me too. I ONLY buy my produce at Compare because the selection and price is great. My meat comes from the butcher. Paper goods/cleaning supplies/pantry items can come from Family Dollar, Walmart or Target. Frozen items and other things I can't find elsewhere I get at Pathmark or Stop and Shop.

Re: grocery bill

I think this is a hard thing to compare. I usually spend $150 but then I probably only go 3 out of 4 weeks in a month. On the off week I might only pick up a few essentials and spend like $30 and this is for 2 of us. This does include cleaning supplies and household things like garbage bags and cat food.

We are doing a produce share so we receive fruits and veggies every other week so that helps right now since I paid it months ago, I kind of forgot about the cost. I have been trying to use up some of the I have been stocking up on so lately because I realized I was creating a warehouse!

We only eat organic meat and try to eat as much organic produce as possible. I very rarely buy things that I don't have a coupon for or aren't on sale (except fresh veggies/fruits). We eat at home most nights and I love to cook so even make breakfasts and lunches usually.

So much depends on what you are eating - so I think this is a really hard comparison.
