Has anyone ever been? I heard they have cotton candy, pretzels and s'mores is this true? Is this a good place for a group of ten with three kids needing high chairs? How is their food?

Re: Grill fire

We went to the one in Merrick, food was good, pretty much like a Chilis or something and atmosphere was really fun. Loved the cotton candy at the end!!

Re: Grill fire

I've been to the one in Merrick several times. Is that the one you are considering?

They give you complimentary cotton candy at the end of the meal (for the table), and also serve hot pretzels at the beginning (as a bread basket).

The one in Merrick isn't huge, but you can make reservations for a big group. I think it's casual enough for kids, especially if you are going for lunch or going for dinner on the early side. On a Friday or Saturday night, it is crowded at the bar and in the restaurant, so I would try to avoid that with a large group with kids.

ETA - The food is good, not amazing or inventive, but good, esp. if you are looking for basics like burgers, steaks, salads. It's kind of upscale pub good, I'd say.

Re: Grill fire

There's one in Rockville Centre that is pretty good, I think it's a good place for a group with kids. Their buffalo chicken fondue and DIY s'mores are soooo good!

I used to go to the one in RVC when I lived closer. Love the chopped salad, the sweet potato fries, and the brownie sundae!

Re: Grill fire

Great for kids! It is my 3 yr old's favorite restaurant, he loves steak. I absolutely prefer the Merrick location over RVC, I actually don't like the RVC location and I've tried it twice.

They have a decent kids menu. The pretzels are served in the beginning instead of regular bread. Cotton candy is standard for the table after the meal. The smores is a dessert on the dessery menu, it's like $9. The table next to us had it last time, looked delish!

I think kids eat free on Sundays. Rvc is small and you may be cramped with a group that size at prime time but the food and service is good.

Re: Grill fire

DH and I were given a gift certificate for there.

Mediocre food at best.

And generally I've liked that owner's restaurants.

It's basically a step above Fridays or a similar chain.

I've been to RVC, Long Beach and Merrick and I think the food in Merrick is way better than at the other locations.

Re: Grill fire

the one in long beach used to be a gerge martins grill fire. it was very good. It switched owners (I think that location only) we went back once after they switched owners and it wasn't good. The quality was way down. The food was the same menu items but just not good. They must have changed suppliers and chefs. The service wasn't as good either - it seemed to be an all new staff. It was a huge disapointment.
