OMG..WE JUST HAD A FIRE!!!
What an eventful Sunday!! DH and my stepson were sitting on the couch playing playsation. My stepson was cold so got up and shut the air off. Ya know how when you shut the air off, it still makes noise, well we thought thats what this noise was we heard, but it wasn't stopping. I looked out the window and out backyard was on fire. I screamed to DH the house is on fire. The bushes, trees and junk the landlords threw in a pile was on fire and it was getting close to the house. We all ran down stairs with pots and started throwing water on it and DH call the fire department. They came and doused the backyard, thankfully there was no damage. We BBQ'd early this afternoon and it was windy and we think some ashes might have flown out and sparked the fire. Thank God it was nothing too major and we saw it. We live next to a school and a man that lives on the other side of the school came over because he thought the house was on fire. There was a lot of smoke. And the fire department couldn't even come down out block because we live on the dead end and the people who live across the street have a tenant and he parks his car smack dab in the middle of the road. With the cops down here and police chief you think he would have come out and moved it, but NO, the fire truck had to drive around to the school. I swear, we are so fed up with their tenant and this was the last straw. Our house was on FIRE and the fire trucks couldn't even get down here because he is blocking the road, what if it was a more serious fire, we'd be dead, but he'd have a good parking spot. Sorry to rant, but I am just so mad that he parks in the middle of the road and we can't do anything to stop it!!
Well, anyway, fires out, I am sticking around the house to make sure nothing sparks up again with this heat and thankfully we are all ok!!

Now....what were you doing bbq'ing???? Stick to the sandwiches..your much better at that!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was DH BBq'ing, he says its a mans job, well I told him he is no longer allowed near the grill!! I put him in his place!!
It was definitely scary, looking out your window seeing your backyard on fire, very close to the house!!! My heart is still racing!!

Nope..DH said to the cop the truck can't come down here because this guy is in the middle of the road and pointed to where he lived. The cop said well i am outta here and turned around and went to the school. See.. thing is the landlord of the guy, well she is a crossing guard and knows the cops around here and her son is a volunteer fireman..so they can do no wrong!!

i was really surprized by that, i have heard of fireman breaking windows on cars, if they are blocking a hydrant to either move the car or run the hose thru the car. What i think you need to do is goto the town and find out if it is a legal apt if not then, file a formal complaint to the town.

Glad you are all okay!!
Our house caught on fire a couple years ago - the fireplace frame caught fire and took out an entire wall. I know that it can be really really scary!!
Thank goodness you caught it early enough!

Thanks everyone. DH and I were paranoid all night. We kept getting up and checking out the window all night long just to make sure nothing sparked up. I am still checking out the window this afternoon. I am a little paranoid, but with the heat outside, I am a bit worried something will spark up again!!
