Has anyone stayed here recently? Did you find it worth the price tag? Love the room decor and a stop away from MK would be great. Contemplating it for a quick weekend trip for the Christmas Party. But, not sure I can justify the cost since we can stay offsite for free.

We stay there and love it. We love the atmosphere and my kids love the pools-never too crowded (storm along bay is too much for them). The rooms are larger than some of the other deluxe resorts, and we always ask for an upper level room for a great balcony. We had a few problems on our most recent trip with the monorail. The line that goes to the ticket and transportation center was closed a couple of nights, so A LOT of non-resort people were using the resort line to get to the ttc, and it was awful. Because of that line, the resort boat line was also ridiculous. This happened two nights that we stayed until fireworks. It was very frustrating and took a very long time to get back to the resort. They claimed they were sending more boats, but that was not the case. On other nights when both lines were running, transportation to magic kingdom was perfect.
Other than that, we always love it there. We spend most of our time at magic kingdom, and also have a car. The smell in the lobby is delicious.

Thanks!! We have been there several times for various activities and meals, and the lobby is gorgeous, especially at Christmas time! But....5 minutes after I had checked on the WDW site, the room was gone. It's very slim pickings for our dates, pretty much every resort is sold out!

Actually the room popped back up, so I hurried up and booked it! I have up to 5 days before our trip to cancel if I change my mind!!

Now I'm crossing my fingers that the monorail is running during the party. I remember at the Halloween party one year the Resort and TTC monorail was down, and it was a nightmare getting out of there!

I do not like the fact that they will not send buses as long as the boat is running, and one monorail track. The boats are small!
I have never been there during the holidays but I have heard it is magnificent! Enjoy!

When we stayed at GF, we used the boat to MK and not the monorail. Christmas decorations are great at GF. Have fun!

Not sure if you care…but they will be renovating the quick service restaurant at that time (Gasparilla Grill). I will be staying there my next trip, but have not yet.

I'm with you. I looked and for $700... we could stay at a great place and pay for our theme park tickets.

That's good to know! Maybe we will stay there next time...and when I'm not last minute and can still get a discount!

As a side note, I ended up redeeming Delta Sky Miles for an onsite value resort for free...so we went from the GF to "slumming" it at a value Chat Icon Chat Icon But free is free!

we just got back from a split stay at Grand Floridian and the Poly. Gasparilla Grill is indeed closed for renovations until mid-December.

The pool bar served breakfast. They also had a grab and go section at Mizners.

It was really not an inconvenience at all .
