Going rate for full-time babysitter

Hi All,

In the upcoming months I'll be looking for a full time babysitter to come to our house and watch 2 infants and 1 toddler M-F (35 hrs a week).

My budget is $15hr. What's the going rate? Is that realistic?

TIA

Imo 15/hr is not going to cut it for 3 kids. I was just quoted 15/hr for a newborn. I wish you luck in finding someone cause it is a pain in the tush.

Re: Going rate for full-time babysitter

Its a little low but feasible. I pay $18/hour for my mother helper who has been with us since my triplets were 11 months old (they are three now). I am a SAHM, she was there to basically give me a hand, light cleaning and meal prep and to watch them for an hour or two at a time while I run errands. When she is solo with them for the whole day for whatever special circumstance, I pay her $20/hour. Three kids is a really tough job at the newborn/toddler stage. I needed to hire someone to help ME with it and I'm their mother.

She has another job where she watches one kid for $20/ hour. But then I also know someone who has a great triplet mothers helper for $10/hour. So you never know. Also I think a lot of people forget that this is usually cash/no tax. So you would ha to make a lot more than $15/hour to take home $15/hour. Plus you are offering her a lot of hours. $525/week cash is not that bad a deal.

It depends on what you can offer and what someone is willing to take. Have you thought about an au pair? I k ow moms who have done that and it's very economical. Good luck!

It's possible. I was paying $12 for pt for 2 toddlers but pay $15 now. You will find ppl who want $15 and some who require $25. It's just about finding someone who fits what you need and your budget.

You could probably find someone, but I don't think its going to be easy. IMO, $15 for 2 newborns and 1 toddler is on the low side. I was getting $10-$12/hour quotes for 1 newborn.

I would be more then happy with $15/hour... When I worked as a nanny, FT- 40+ hours a week, I got a base pay. I made $420 for watching a newborn, 18 month old, and 5 year old..

It's on the low side.
But, yes, you may find someone.
I find there is a premium for things...
It's possible they would have less experience, don't drive, etc.
