Re: Going out with a newborn - any tips?

Great advice. Im 3.5 weeks in the house and I am ready to get out also. I have gone to BJ's with DH and walked to CVS. I was thinking of going to Target as well and its the people that get me. I didn't think about the netting for the stores. Good advice.
Did anyone's pediatrician tell them NOT to go to a store b4 8 wks? She told me especially stay away from BBB and BRU. If LO gets a fever they will admit her to hosp for spinal tap. Do you think that's s scare tactic? Now that's all I want to go to but dont want to hurt baby

yes my pediatrician recommended we stay away from any malls, supermarkets etc. due to the fact that the babies' immune systems aren't really developed until 8 weeks. If they were to get a fever at that point, yes she said, it would be absolutely be a visit to the hospital and a barrage of tests to rule out any number of fringe but bad things.

That being said, I wore grooves into the pavement walking around the block and going back and forth to my mom's house whenever possible. Now that my twins are past 8 weeks I feel like I am trying to learn how to navigate stores and outings like this all over again!

My pediatrician said the same thing and honestly, I really don't see the need for me to go to stores right now. If I need something I wait until DH is home or ask him to pick it up. Clearly a FTM but I don't want to risk it. I do go for walks and over relatives houses.
