Give me an honest answer .. Party favors..

I can take it ..

Are goodie bags/favors a must??

I know, I know... It's just ... The party place involves a sweet treat while they are there (decorating a baked good) so an edible favor would be redundant.. And so many have allergies these days... And does anyone need more junk or yet another coloring book/crayons?

Or am I being too practical (and lazy, cheap and Scroogey)?

Kids would be 6/7 years old..

I personally don't care of my kid attends a party and doesn't get a favor ... But I'm weird.

Opinions? Ideas?
I'm willing to have my mind swayed here..

I think they are...honestly. My girls would be disappointed if they didn't get one. They would get over it though. I would get one. Maybe something small like a notepad and a mechanical pencil or something like that or a small cup with stickers in it that you can get from oriental trading.

My dd is only 5, but she loves favors of any kind. Not sure if 6 or 7 year olds would mind as much. I agree with pp, i think a note pad with a pen, pencil or marker is a cute idea.

Yes to me they are a must.
Is it a baking party? What about a wisk with Hershey kisses inside? or something cooking related?

My DD really looks forward to getting them. Yeah it's usually junk I don't need, but it brings her a little joy.

No.
Totally unnecessary.

I throw them right into the garbage when we get them,(cups with ? Bpa, bubble lotion that doesn't work, candy)

Have not given them out yet & never heard a kid complain.

I'd def say, take the time, $ and effort & put it into the party.

As a parent I hate them, but my kid does love them. I wouldn't be upset that she didn't get a favor, but she probably would. She is 3.5 and would be happy with a lollipop or a balloon though.

I agree. I don't care if I get them or not and I don't think my kids do either. If you do give something, I'd rather have a nice lollipop or a rock candy than a bunch of little toys that we don't use or tons of candy.

I went to 5 Below for my DD's birthday and got stuff from the $3 section. Each kid got a tumbler and I put it in a cellophane bag with a tag I printed. My kids don't necessarily look for favors or goody bags but they absolutely LOVE them. Eventually the stuff will be thrown out but they do enjoy it. I try to give favors that are cheap but a little more practical.

My kids wouldn't care. I'm surprised how many would. Especially since you are having an edible craft at the party, I would just skip it. 6 and 7 year olds are old enough to not throw a temper tantrum at not getting a favor.

Re: Give me an honest answer .. Party favors..

I lean towards yes but my kids are younger. I try to get things that are more practical (books, beach pails, small Lego sets, coloring books/crayons, sidewalk chalk, etc) that I think will actually get used by at least some of the kids.

I don't care if it's expected or not. Many kids look forward to them and they did take time out of the day/bring a gift for my child so I think a little thank you is nice. I would personally feel rude not having a favor.

Re: Give me an honest answer .. Party favors..

My kids definitely expect a little something at the end if a party. They wouldn't be heartbroken if they didn't get something, but they would probably be a little disappointed.

Not necessary at all.
A favor is a bonus and shouldn't be expected.

Give me an honest answer .. Party favors..

I personally wouldn't care if DD got one or not. I don't want her to expect to get one at every party. That's not why she's attending.

I agree that it is not necessary; and don't really want DD to expect to get one either.
