Gift for (Teen) Camp Counselors
It was my DC's first time to attend summer camp this year and it ends this week. I was wondering, do you give gifts to camp counselors? If yes, what kind? Gift cards? I have no idea what amount is the "usual", or if getting them something is typical. One girl's assigned to my son's group, but there's always 4 of them watching the 5-6 year olds. What would you do?

We give cash or a check. I would definately give a call to the office of the camp. We get a letter which tells us what the camp recommends and you give based on what you think is the right amount...
They might be able to help you...
We go to an 8 week camp the most I think the mot I give for the he counselor is 40. Reg counselors 35. Bus counselor 30 and busdriver 35.
This year I have 2 kids so it is going to cost me a fortune but well worth it!!!

DS had seven regular counselors - I gave $25 per counselor. He was there for 5 weeks of camp from 8:45 to 3:20 daily. The first week of camp he was in an incorrect group - I gave three of those counselors $5 each. They would always say hi to him and help him at pick up/drop off even after he was no longer in their group. HTH

I always give cash. They are paid almost nothing by the camp generally and depend on the tips for the school year.

I was a counselor for 3 years at a high-end camp and we weren't paid well. We always looked forward to a little cash at the end of the year!

I always give cash to all the counselors. My daughter's camp gives a suggestive tip sheet at the end of the summer.

Both my kids are in a summer rec camp. Each of their groups are assigned 4 counselors, so I have to tip a total of 8.
I will give cash this year (I have DD gift cards last summer). $25 each counselor probably. I only paid $225 for both my kids to attend the camp for 6 weeks, so I assume they aren't paid all that much.

definitely go for cash...do not give a gift. I was a camp counselor for many years and tips money from campers is what you rely on since you get paid very very very poorly. the money comes at the end of the year and you plan to use it to help you get through the beginning of the school year.
