Getting a little depressed
39w4d........due on Saturday and it just seems like nothing is going to happen. He seems to be content to stay in there and I only have until Monday the 18th to go into labor otherwise it's a C-section.
I am just getting depressed, I don't want another C-section, I felt so robbed when I had my DD and my recovery was awful. I just don't want to go through that again. I just feel SO down today. I am uncomfortable, so done, hormonal, and just upset. I wish this baby would cooperate and get labor going. I am starting to lose hope for a VBAC.

Getting a little depressed
You still have time! When labor happens, it happens out of nowhere. I'm not very familiar with vbacs, but could they try to induce you on the 18th instead of starting with a c? Or do vbacs have to be natural labor?

Re: Getting a little depressed
I'm sorry. Try not to get too worried yet. Labor can start at any time. With my DS I had zero progress and 12 hours later I was in labor. You never know!

They won't induce when it's a VBAC unfortunately and then on top of that because I have GD, they won't let me go past the 18th so I'm kind of stuck.
Just hoping something happens from now til then.
Thanks everyone.

Re: Getting a little depressed
I'm so sorry Hofstra. Hang in there, it can still happen! While I wish you the delivery you really want (I;m going for a VBAC too) just remember that at the end of it all you'll have your beautiful baby that you've wanted for so long no matter which way you deliver.

My OB's won't induce. They said Pitocin specifically can bring on such intense contractions that they are concerned about uterine rupture. They *might* consider breaking my water but ONLY if I was already contracting and in labor on my own and maybe stalled a little. Other than that, their stipulations for VBAC are no inductions.
Good luck on Friday!!!!! Can't wait to hear the good news, hope you have an easy delivery!!

Re: Getting a little depressed
Try sitting on an exercise ball. Get that baby's head butting on the cervix and putting pressure on it to dilate/efface.
Can you convince them to give you a couple days if all is well with your GD and baby?

Re: Getting a little depressed
and eggplant Parmesan!
I was maybe 1cm dilated and so done being pregnant at almost 39 weeks. I had egg plant parm for dinner (someone told me that it could induce labor and I was ready to try anything!) and then me & DH later that night. 15 minutes after I had my first contraction and DD was born 10 hours later.
Hang in there!

Re: Getting a little depressed
I know this is a different perspective...
My first DS was a c section, and I had a second planned c section for my second DS. No VBAC, I was too nervous.
It was a much better experience the second time. I was calmer, knew what to expect, and there was no chaos or uncertainty. My recovery was much easier too. Maybe this was because my body didn't go through the 30 hour labor prior to the surgery!
Regardless, I was 37 years old and knew this baby was going to be my last. The minute I heard his cry, and saw him, was really magical. The way he came into the world didn't matter. He joined our family, he was healthy. My 2 year old did great for the three nights I was in the hospital too - much better than I thought. He loved his sleepover with Papa and Mimmy!
Good luck.

Thanks, I hope the second time is easier.
My last C section was planned, I didn't labor at all although my water broke a few hrs before surgery. I had a terrible reaction to the morphine drip in recovery and was BEYOND sick for the next 14 hrs,..........didn't see my DD at all for that whole time. It was awful. My recovery was long and painful too. All around, it just was not a fun experience.
However, at least this go around I know to skip the morphine, I would rather be in pain than that sick. So now that I have been through it once hopefully it will be easier because I know what to expect. Guess we will see. Still hoping it doesn't come to that and I can deliver on my own.

I had a similar experience the first time. They actually accidentally overdosed me on narcotics during the surgery. I stopped breathing after, and I needed emergency Narcan. I also didn't see my baby for 16 hours until the next morning.
There is anti nausea medicine that can be given after surgery, which really helps.
My experience the second time was the polar opposite of the first. I believe it healed me, too. I lost the regret and anger I had from the first birth.
However it goes- I hope your baby boy arrives soon, healthy, and brings you much joy!

Re: Getting a little depressed
You know YOU are in control of your body not the doctors, right? I know what you are going through but you should make them allow you some more time- no sooner then 41 weeks for sure! With my last VBAC attempt I was given til 42 weeks and my water broke 41 weeks 6 days. It sucks, I know but please dont give up so easily!!!
There is no harm in demanding to wait longer. You could be 1 day away from going into labor but you will never know if you let them dictate your birth for you. My suggestions are bouncing on a excerise ball ( just found out today it got my baby " really low") and my pro-VBAC OB told me lots of sex for dilation ( easier said then done, Im def dreading that part! ) Do everything you can so you dont regret afterwards.
