Genetic Counseling-does DH go with me?
For those ladies who went to genetic counseling- did your DH have to go with you? I have an appt. on the 14th and I forgot to ask my dr.'s office. TIA

I did genetic counseling with my first pregnancy and I had DH come with me.
I was glad he did because they wanted a family history for both sides and I would not have been able to answer all the questions for his side of the family.
I also just wanted him there for support just in case a few of the test did not come back in our favor.

DH came with me when I went. They took both our family histories. They just gave us the facts on additional fetal testing should we want to do more testing (aside from the CVS which we had done). We opted for no additional testing.

DH came with me. They just went over statistics and the different testing/screening options. I was only 7 weeks but am 38 and have a history of mc. It was more informative for dh as I had already obsessively researched everything. We are now at the point of deciding whether or not to do amnio -very difficult. Good luck to you!

i would. they'll probably ask for his family history. plus it's always nice to have an extra set of ears.

I went with DH, as the other girls have mentioned , the counselor will take a full family history from both of you, so it is helpful to have him there. BUt if he cant make it try to get as much info from him as possible or maybe have him on telephone standby to fill in any blanks you cant answer.
