I was nervous about this the whole time. They said girl at the 20 week scan, but the way she phrased it "looks like a girl" made me nervous.

The first thing I asked after they took baby out (i had c-section) was "is it still a girl?"

It was!

Lol I feel like that's going to be me!

Re: Gender Mistake?

My best friend had that happen to her. But, this was 8 years ago and they did the anatomy scan a little on the early side - maybe 18 weeks - b/c they wanted to know the sex for Christmas (they wanted the doctor to put it in an envelope so they could open it on Christmas with their families.)

Well, they did the room so nice for a boy - it was beautiful! And we had a big shower - everything blue. When her hubby called me to tell me the news, I asked what HIS name was. And her husband said "It's a She." I was like "Shut up, seriously, what's his name?!" Took a while to believe he was serious.

I had the Materniti21 test done and we found out (supposedly 99+% accurate)- and I wasn't sure I believed it. At my anatomy scan, I made them check again and they said YUP, correct. And each sonogram I do, I plan to make them check (I've been getting a lot b/c the baby's kidneys are slightly enlarged and they want to keep an eye on it.)

I think most likely you can trust it, but I'd still double and triple check if possible just in case.Chat Icon

I have heard this but don't know anyone personally that it has happened to. At our anatomy scan I asked to see before she told us. Although, wasn't sure where to look at first and was very nervous LOL But clear as day baby is a a Boy!Chat Icon She gave us a pic of the "gender" and I had to go back to get additional pics and saw baby in 3D. He's a mover so his boy parts were clear.
If you are feeling unsure, maybe call the office and ask if you can have a sono take a peak again to clear your mind.Chat Icon

Yeah, I'm definitely going to ask to take another look. I just keep thinking about how crazy it would be if I got all these girly things and a little boy popped out! Chat Icon

I completly understand! I would not be settled until I saw with my own eyes. I heard if it were a girl, you would see 3 lines and obv a boy you would see parts. Keep us posted Chat Icon

Yes, I was told that 3 lines indicates that it is a girl. The 3 lines represent the labia. I was convinced that I was going to have another boy. At 14 weeks I was told I was having a girl and they pointed these 3 lines out to me. I'm in disbelief! I'm going back for the full anatomy at 20 weeks and I guess it will be confirmed then!

Just wanted to share that I was told that they do not only look for the lil boys peepee when identifying the gender. They look for these 3 lines as well to see if its a girl. However, this could be difficult to spot depending on the baby's position. So mistakes can happen. Ahhhh I can't wait for 20 weeks!

I know someone was told boy at 16 weeks and then told girl at 20 weeks and it turned out to be a girl in the end.

While it doesn't seem to be the norm for mistakes, it's clearly possible!!

that was me.

and because of you I was so unsure if it was a boy! LOL

Yup, this has me slightly uncertain, too. We've seen a distinct penis a few times now and we have another sono on the 31st but I still wonder just a bit!
