Re: gas prices
I heard this today too and freaked and then heard the whole story on the radio. It's the gas prices on the NJ turnpike because they are only at 3.13 a gallon right now that tomorrow morning at 7 am they are raising the prices. Thank goodness it's not everywhere!

Re: gas prices
I heard it on 1010 wins today in the car. They said it's the jersey turnpike stations, but not sure about NJ in general.

I have a mile and a half commute to work but DH has a 35 mile commute so there is no way around it! I try to justify it by saying my commute uses less gas so its ok that his is more...does that make sense??

Re: gas prices
***, I hate that the gas prices are high, If they were going to lower them they alway's do it .5 a gallon less, They have no problem raising it though.

Re: gas prices
It amazes me that one of these stations doesn't get smart and lower their prices to $2.99. They'd have lines around the block and then some, and would ultimately make more money. At least I think they would. Maybe I'm wrong.

See that is what I say about me being a SAHM, but then DH uses enough gas for the 2 of us
He is a salesman and his accounts go from North Babylon to Montauk
And then Friday he commutes to Brooklyn too

Re: gas prices
We've had several 22 cent/day increases recently, so I wouldn't be surprised with another one....
It's not the station owner's fault for raising prices. They are increasing the price to pay for the gas that the oil companies are selling them. It's Exxon/Shell/Hess/etc corporations that are setting the prices (along with state taxes, of course) There's some variation per station, based on their rent/mortgage, etc, but they don't have a huge say in what they charge.

Re: gas prices
I know the .22 raise in prices was for the NJ turnpike this morning. I did see lines though at the gas stations this morning for 3.75!!!!
I only have a 3 mile commute too but DH commutes to NJ & has accounts throughout NYC. Luckily he drives to Queens & then using Mass Transit. But still, it is insane!!!! That is another reason we bought plane tickets for our summer trip to see my parents. I was afraid of the gas prices!!!

Re: gas prices
I got gas at $3.75 this morning seeing it as a bargain compared to what I've seen closer to home.
I needed less than half a tank and spent $35.

i was actually thinking about how 7 years ago DW and I took a cross-country road trip to CA and back. We drove approx 7,000 miles and the cost in gas was around $400. At today's prices, that same trip would cost almost $1,300

That what I dont get either. I'm not even looking for $2.99........but if one gas station can be lower than ALL and be about $3.25 (fairly reasonable).........I'll take it!!!
