Gas over $4!!!
So far, it's just the 93 octane, but I saw $4.05 at more than one station over the weekend for the 93 octane gas!!!!

I almost died the other day when I paid $3.25 for gas in NJ (especially since I saw it south of where we are out of the train window for $3.13).

Doesn't surprise me
We saw diesel for almost $5. a gallon today.
And "the powers that be" are laughing all the way to the bank because of their oil interests.
Just waiting for the quarter's numbers to be in for this to officially be declared a recession.
Let's not even talk about the loss of jobs or the price of groceries. It's like the early 70's all over again

Well, who will keep driving but for basic needs.
Forget the cruising around. I make a route to run errands so I don't keep driving around. Otherwise, I just drive to and from work. That's it!

It has been said that $4 for regular will be the "breaking point" where people will really have to change their ways. Its disgusting to me the government is allowing this to happen.
On the other hand, the Prius was the #1 selling car in the past year. So maybe its the hit in the wallets that will finally get the public to demand something be done to find an alternative to oil.

I think it's time for automakers to take the plunge and invest in new technology. I mean... finally switch to green cars... REAL green cars.
But with all the money they already invested in their manufacturing plants and money they are making why should they change unless they have to. In addition to the loss they are already making the sale of cars, they will probably not switch their manufacturing. That in addition to all the under the table money they spend every year so the big guys leave them alone.

It is such a ridiculous situation because we are powerless to do anything about it. Yes, we can change our driving habits, but there are still people who have a far commute. And that's who its really hurting...as Exxon posts quarterly profits upwards of $10 million. Must be nice. Hang in there everyone...hopefully this will pass soon!!

ITA! It makes me furious pretty much knowing there is nothing I can do but get pi$$ed off. It's absolutely rediculous........I'd love to ring a few necks! I filled up last week at $3.41.......I almost want to take the week off of work so I can save it.........

It cost me almost $36 to fill up my 2007 Ford Focus today. It didn't even cost me that much when I had a Chevy Blazer 2 years ago.

I'm officially taking the train again...if more people used public transportation or carpooled - the gas companies would start to feel the pinch and the prices won't go up as drastically.
As it is now, most people don't change their patterns and the gas companies are gobbling up the $$$$....

It cost me $65 to fill up my Ford Explorer...!!!!!!!!!!
With 6 kids I dont have the luxury of an economy car. But we do use my DH's Toyota Corolla whenever we can.
I almost cried when I heard what the latest price that crude oil was trading at. There is nothing we can do about it...and noone is listening.

I dont think it has everythin to do with peoples consumption. From everything Ive read consumption has remained basically flat yet prices continue to climb. I've read it has more to do with the in the toilet dollar and serious demand from China/India/etc. I fear this is the new norm

The thing that makes me really crazy is that when (and if) gas finally goes back to say $3.00 a gallon, we will be like "YES"!!!!! even though that is still a ridiculously high price. So gas companies will be psyched because they are still making their millions....remember when gas was at $2.15??? Ugh the good ole days....

it's so much less in NJ- I paid $3.45 for premium yesterday
only 10 cents more then I paid last week
and my SUV costs about $80 to fill- so every little bit counts
good thing I take the bus to work!

On saturday i was running some errands, the station by my house was 3.59 when i left, when i came back 2 hours later is was 3.77
How is that possible?
I doubt they got a delivery in that short amount of time
I drove around alot on saturday, and there was SOOO much traffic
all the stores were jammed pack, and friday and saturday nights all the restaurants are booked solid.
we ate at a table outside just so we wouldnt have to wait for 30 minutes for a table.
I really dont think people are cutting their spending habits of going out to eat.
