FTWM's: How often do you "check in" during the day?
I usally get to check in at least once a day. I hate that I get so busy sometimes I miss my usual window and then scramble to call as soon as I can. Sometimes I get to check in more, or I get text updates (with pics..my fave). Then there are days like today where I call and they must be outside and don't pick up so I don't get my "report". It makes me feel so disconnected when it happens.
Do you call and check in? Do you feel bad if you don't get to? DD is 2, am I silly to still want to check in and see how the day is going?

I check in a lot...Between 3-5x a day. I text and see how she's doing, what she's doing, did she eat?, did she poop?, what did the poop look like, etc...Normal mommy things.
And I get pics a lot too, but I usually have to ask for them  (DH watches her while I'm at work).

DS is in daycare and I don't check in unless I'm concerned about something, like if he's been sick. And if I do, I only check in once. But if he's home sick with DH or other family, then I check in much more frequently. I'd say at least 3 times.

Haha, the poop report!! I still ask if I don't get told if she did or didn't. And how did she eat, is she being good, how long was the nap. I might as well just put them on Skype and keep it on my computer.
They were bowling today so I got a cute pic finally, no wonder there was no answer.

If he isn't feeling well or has a diaper rash or didn't sleep well the night before or something, I will text once or twice in the day for any updates... otherwise I don't check in. With that said, on days that my babysitter has him she is constantly sending me pics and messages letting me know how much he is eating and what they are doing.

If every parent called multiple times during the day to check in, who would be watching the kids??
If my mom is watching him, I will check in once.

Oh my Mom is my childcare, guess I should have specified that. I guess it would be different if she was in daycare.

my mil is our caregiver for ds- she usually texts me once a day a picture or whatever.. I usually don't check on them unless like a pp said, I have a particular concern that day

I never check in. My kids go to a smaller day care and I can see it being really distracting to the staff if the parents all checked in. If they were home sick then I would check in.

Always by text (nanny in my home) - and it's usually 3 to 4 times a day. I like staying connected - and while I'm almost always swamped at work, texting is easy.

Never.... I am a teacher and so getting to the.phone is hard During the day and i work through my lunch. Also, i know as a teacher, it is tough to get to the phone, so i don't want Bother them. If one of the kids had a tough night or whatever, i tell them in the morning and they can call me on my cell or call the main office at my school if they need to. They have called me at work. Some of those calls warranted that i leave work and pick them up, other times they just wanted to let me know.
Maybe i am a bad mom, but i have not called them once in three years and i have two kids there. Lol..... However, my SIL works there and her mom owns the school, so i know they are fine!

I usually get at least one text update during the day. If I don't hear anything I will text to check in. THey are home with a babysitter.
