Frustrating registry experience(a little long)
So we went to the BRU in Massqpequa to add to our registry. (We went last week to sign up). The lady at the desk said there would be someone in each department to help us. We spent 45 minutes alone in the stroller department. DH was able to close two of the strollers but we couldn't get them back open. I went to the customer service desk. They paged someone. No one came. They paged someone three times but no one ever showed up. One of the registry ladies finally helped us realize why we couldn't open the stroller. We finallly added a travel system with the scanning gun.
We walked around the store and barely saw any associates. After scanning about 10 items I realized that the scanner was just showing reviews of products and I couldn't get back to the screen that showed what we had scanned. So we went back to the registry desk only to find out that nothing we had scanned over the past hour had even registered. The gun wasn't set up properly. We had to go around and rescan everything.
We are not knowledgeable on any of these products and there was no one to help us. It was very frustrating We only added 16 items to the list.
The highlight was Marcel in the furniture who helped us order the furniture we wanted. The cribs are all 20% off by the way. I am not sure til when.
Sorry for the long post I am just frustrated. This is a very stressful time as it is and it would be nice if ther were more associates that could help first time moms and dads with these things, especially on the weekends. I wound up calling my sister in law in the middle of the stroller aisle just to get some info.
Anyone else having this problem?

Re: Frustrating registry experience(a little long)
Is there any way you could register to Buy Buy Baby - I find them so much more helpful than Babies R US. I feel, like you said, there is never anyone there to help you and I feel their sales people are not as knowledgeable as BBB staff. I also think BBB return policy is so much better.
Sorry you had such a bad experience.

Re: Frustrating registry experience(a little long)
The Massapequa BRU has always left much to be desired IMO. I prefer the one in Westbury. It's a bigger store and I think the associates are better as well.
I'm a 2nd time Mom so I know a lot about strollers --- we've been through a few already and I know what features are important to me. Even so, when I was deciding between my top 2, a Westbury associate helped me for well over 20 minutes and she really had a lot to do with the decision that I made.

ditch BRU- they're the worst. switch all of your stuff over to BBB. Their sales staff is so much better.

Re: Frustrating registry experience(a little long)
I found the staff at BBB to be so much more helpful; the store to be cleaner; they have more product availability and overall to just be more reliable. I enjoyed registering there so much more. I also find their website a lot easier to navigate with more reliable info.
With BRU, I find their products go out of stock that are on your registry and they dont even email you to let you know. I am so aggravated with them. When I went to the store there was at least 3 people standing around the registry desk, they see me and my mom go and sit down. Not one of them offered us help. 1 person goes behind the desk, but to get something out of a drawer, doesnt lift his head to look at us or offer us help and walks away. I had to go to the customer service desk to ask if anyone works there?! There were NO associates on the floor and NO ONE offered me help. Plus the items I was registering for in colors for girls came up blue on my registry and the girl tells me theres nothing she can do. When someone buys it for me THEY should know that Im having a girl and not to buy me blue!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Re: Frustrating registry experience(a little long)
For items where I needed sales help I went to BBB and was there on a sat morning the minute they opened. We spent an hour in the stroller department and had to keep turning down offers of help because they're were so many sales people available. Everyone was so nice and very knowledgeable.

Re: Frustrating registry experience(a little long)
I registered at BBB for my 1st pregnancy bc the staff at BBB was SOOOOO helpful. I find that the staff at BRU are not particularly helpful or knowledgeable.
