frenectomy Tongue surgery
Dd2 had it done, but she was only a few months old. So no need for anesthesia. The whole thing takes 30 seconds. I had to do exercises with he after. Holding her younger up, etc so it wouldn't reattach. It was so so much worse for me than it was for her.
We use Dr Siegel

we had my son's cut at 2 - he had to have his tonsils out so it was done at same time - he qualified for speech therapy before and 2 weeks after had no problems with speech - very worth it

Re: frenectomy Tongue surgery
My son had this at age 2. No issues from it. Was easy and quick and under anesthesia. BUT..he is 18 now, has been in speech for 16 years now, and there is still an issue with his speech, and his frenulum. I'm thinking they didn't cut it deep enough the first time, and it has grown back over time, because he definitely still has a tongue tie, and his speech teacher had mentioned it like last year. He has a hard time articulating certain things, and definitely can't stick his tongue out far...but since he is fine with it, I'm fine with it and would never take him to get it snipped again at this point, because that would be pure torture for him.

I think Dr Siegel will do it without general anesthesia. Can give him a mild Valium-type med to relax him and local anesthetic.

DD has a tongue tie. We took her to an ENT (who I hated) and he was quick to suggest snipping it. I wasn't ok with a baby going under anesthesia for something not 100% necessary. My ped and several speech therapists said not to do it because it has NO effect on speech.
If you're apprehensive I would seek a second opinion.

It would absolutely effect speech if the tongue tie was so tight that the tongue doesn't reach the top the teeth to make certain sounds.
