Re: FP recalls rock n play sleeper

I appreciate the apologies and am impressed that people did. My LO is ok thank God and Im just in shock that this happened. I so meticulous with her stuff especially that when i lifted the cushion i did a double take. Asked for a second opinion. Ughh i cleaned it but im not letting my dd sleep in it anymore. Iyts going to be a very rough night.
I'm confused by what I read, is it a recall, or is FP just having people call in to get information on how to clean it? Is it preventable? I have one, but it's not in use, but I was going to sell it or wait until someone else needs it.

They need to recall my whole house in that case- because I NEVER clean it properly!!
I know my bathroom should be recalled!

FP recalls rock n play sleeper
We love the rock 'n play for our twins. They are such a life savor, especially when we are visiting relatives. The rock 'n plays are not meant to be slept in over night and need to be cleaned often. We use them for nap time during the day, 2-3 hours tops.

Ok can I just say -and I don't really care if this makes me sound like I'm dirty, because I'm a clean freak- I have had mine for 4 months now and haven't even thought of washing it I'm always cleaning and washing my kids stuff, but haven't done so with the RNP only because I always use a receiving blanket in it , I never put my DS in it without putting the blanket down first , so it's spotless. When I heard about the recall I took it apart, thank god itl's fine, but now I will be washing it a lot. My DS won't be using it that much longer since he is huge, I love this thing!
They say the mold gets between the stationary part and the part that comes off. My DD has pooped in it twice and spit up countless times. Its been washed countless times. I keep a burp cloth in the top part but sometimes diapers explode.
ETA, she has skinny legs so the diapers sometimes leak on her.

New out of the box is fine. Its just that over time it can develop mold between the washable part and the stationary part. I think its because there is plastic under the stationary part and if the baby is laying in it it can get warm and build condensation under the padding. thats all I can think of. I dont think it really has anything to do with not washing the washable part.

How about the use of a humidifier? Maybe that moisture in addition to the type of fabric on the rnp makes it insanely susceptible.

Re: FP recalls rock n play sleeper
So if it isn't preventable, because it truly can't be properly washed, are they accepting returns?

I'd call BBB to ask...usually if there's a recall the store will replace it and return the recalled one to the mfg.

it IS preventable. all mold is preventable.
wash the liner, lysol the interior and let it DRY. do it as often as necessary. I used mine daily for 8 months and never had a problem. and mine is one of the first, probably manufactured in 2009.

FP said no one will issue a refund. I called and fought and they said they'd send me a new one, but no cash back for anyone. It is an "awareness" recall to make people aware of how they should clean it.

However to be fair...you can't make people "aware" 3 years later. If any baby item grows MOLD, it should be thrown away!!
