For those with VERY limited space...
Do you plan to have a nursery? If not, where will the baby stay?
I live in a 2bd apt. It is really not that big. The second room right now is being used as a guest/hang out/office space. I would really hate to take out the queen bed we have in that room since my parents plan to stay with me for a bit once the baby is born and also, if they want to visit in the future if I take the bed out there will be no room for them  but, I really want to make this the nursery. The other problem I have is that we have two desks, a 50inch tv with stand in that room and will have absolutely no place to put it if we make this the nursery.

We live in a 1 bedroom and plan on making room in our bedroom for now. We don't plan on moving until the baby is about 1. My advise would to put the baby's dresser in the spare bedroom and take it from there, maybe put the crib / bassinet in your bedroom for now.

I would not make any decisions now, honestly. Yes, if you have the space, it's nice to make a nursery, but it's not necessary at all. We had DS and DD sleep in our room for the first few weeks, and then moved them to their rooms once they were sleeping longer stretches at night. You could get away with having the baby in a bassinet or the Rock and Play Sleeper for 3 months, which gives you a ton of time to figure something out. 
You don't have to make the 2nd bedroom a full nursery, either. If your parents come over to help, they will just have to share the room with the baby  I'd divide it in half - 1/2 bedroom, 1/2 nursery with just a crib and a small dresser/changing table combo. Hang name letters in the room over the dresser or the crib to personalize it a bit. You can totally make it work

We have a queen bed in our "nursery". No need to pull the bed out, just stick a crib in there too....

When we had DD we didn't have an extra room for her. She shared a room with us for the first 3 months, and then we moved into a bigger apartment and she had her own small room.
To be honest in the very beginning it would be exhausting to have the baby sleeping in another room. Emily didnt want to be in our crib. She wanted to be as close to us as possible, and for her it ended up being in the bouncer, on vibrate all night long, right next to me on the floor beside the bed.
At around 3 months she was ready to sleep in thecrib and it just worked out that that was when we moved into the bigger apartment and we were able to set up a room for her.
I think you should make as many changes to the 2nd room now as you can. You can certainly leave the TV and bed in there...maybe see if you can get down to one desk and fit a changing table in there. When the baby is a few months old and ready to sleep on his or her own, you can make the decision about moving the crib in there as well or keeping the baby in with you for a little longer.
EVENTUALLY the baby will need his or her own room...but certainly not right away!

Thank you so much everyone! I guess I just had my heart set on this room being just for the baby..but I guess in life you cant always get what you want  I think I will do what you ladies are suggestions and just add a crib and a dresser..just the basics and go from there. Thanks!

I think it is totally OK. We are now in a house and we have a 3rd room, and it needs a LOT of work to convert it into a baby room. SO it will be done eventually, but I know the baby will be with us in a bassinet or even the bouncer all over again for the first few months!

To be honest, that would be your childs room on a daily basis. How often would guests really stay over? You can always find a way to accommodate them when they come. Whether it be setting up a inflatable mattress or getting a couch with a bed in it. For me, the baby would be way more important. I am getting rid of my only guest bed to turn into a nursery. We have a futon that can be used in anothe room as a bed and a couch that opens up in the lr. Fam will have to make do. Child comes first IMO.

Yes, you are absolutely right. I just cant see myself setting up my 60+yr old parents who suffer from back pain, arthritis etc. on inflatable mattresses. You're right that it will be the baby's room more than a guest room I guess I just want the best of two worlds. I dont want to make my parents stay to be uncomfortable either.

How often do your parents come to visit? Maybe when they visit they can have your bed, and you and DH can sleep somewhere else?

I EBF'd so DD was in our room until she was one. Her crib was in the office and that's still where she sleeps at 2 1/2. Next week she gets her own new room though :).

We got lucky cause DH sister moved out and we made her room the baby's nursery. It was originally going to be a sitting area/den for DH. We already have that downstairs so he just brought his stuff into FIL's den area.
I share baby's room with my computer so its a half nursery/ half office.
I agree with PP, baby will be there longer than any guest and he/she should get that room eventually.
In the beginning, its fine to have the crib in your room so that you're near the baby at all times.

We have EXTREMELY limited space now that there are twins on the way. We have a small 2 bdrm with a living room. DS is in one room. So, we are rearranging furniture in our bedroom to make room for the twins' crib (only one right now). Their dresser is going to be in DS's room and we are getting a small diaper changing station to put in the corner of the living room. We are staying here until the twins are about 6-9 months... We will have a ton of help the first 12 weeks, but we have no room for guests. DH and I are making due. We are grateful for all the help and will do what we can to accommodate without completely displacing our lives.
While ITA with pp as baby is number 1, you also need to live. If your parents (or anyone for that matter) are coming to help, they need a place to stay. As a newborn, they don't need much room... even a crib is a lot (DS slept with me until he was 4 weeks, then he would sleep in his swing until 4 months). Just know that you'll be fine with whatever you choose to do.

I agree with PP...You will be fine with whatever you choose... And I agree that baby prob wont even be using the room in the beginning so you can always change to a full nursery later on... I DO have a little extra room to work with in case guests come over, so for me, changing into a complete nursery from the get go is a must... Simply bc we are too lazy to fix up a room half way and then fix it up again later down the road
You make do with whatever works best for your situation... And it always works out... My cousin and her DH have a 1 bedroom place and are now making it work with a toddler and a newborn... Where there's a will, there's a way Dont stress... baby doesnt like that

theres no reason why you cant decorate maybe just the wall where you put the crib and the dresser so you feel like its more for baby. It doesnt have to be super 'baby like' and i doubt your guests will mind. You could put pretty decals on the wall or maybe the name letters and some framed photos.
Atleast that way you will still get the chance to do a little decorating and have a place designated for baby, while still having the bed and the rest of the room as a guest room.

We are in the same boat as you! We live in a 2 bedroom condo and our second bedroom is a guest bedroom/office/DH's video game room. If we get rid of the futon in that room, people wont have anywhere to stay once the baby is here. So, after lots of arguing with DH about what will stay in that room after the baby is born..this is what we have come up with. We're going to move in the baby's crib, dresser and changing table and leave the futon and the TV in the room. We're gonna hang the TV to save some space. The glider is gonna have to go in my bedroom at first. While our guests visit for the first few weeks, the baby will be sleeping in our room. Then, after all the guests have come and gone...we will get rid of the futon and move the glider in there and the baby's nursery will start to look like a nursery! Yay!
ETA..it took a long time for me to commit to this arrangement. I did want a room that was just for a baby. I never imagined my baby's room with a futon and flat screen TV in either.

See I agree! When I had DS we lived in a one bedroom apartment. It also had a small space room with a door that we used as an office. I guess you could call it a second bedroom but it was super small. My DH was set on keeping it as an office, and putting baby stuff other places. Well, he soon came to realize how much stuff a baby has. Thank goodness we moved his stuff and made a nursery. We where able to get all the baby furniture and other items all neatly put away and I got to make a little nursery. The baby slept in our room for the first 4 months, but I still used the nursery alot. You will use it!!! Plus, I still used the crib to put baby down for naps or when I needed to take a shower. Yes it's nice to have a guest room, but you will see you will need that room. Plus think about all the clutter you will have in your living space if you don't use it. I know that would make me crazy!!
