For those with limited space in their home.....
Are you registering for a swing and a bouncy seat? We have a 3 bedroom home, but a tiny living room area (which is where I would put a swing) and I think it would just take up too much room. Do you think it's fine to just register for the bouncy seat?
I went with DH's cousin to register, and she thought I should put the portable swing on my registry (it's smaller), but I don't want it sitting on the floor because I have a lab that will end up licking the baby while he's in there.
ETA: the bedroom are small so putting it in a bedroom is not an option either.

I only know one couple with a swing for this reason (but all have a bouncy seat).

If you had to choose between one and the other, I'd go with the swing. My kids were in the swing much longer than the bouncy seat.

I'm the opposite.
We bought the swing when she was a month old but she was very indifferent about it. She would tolerate it for very short periods and we put it away at about 7 months. Once she was sitting up on her own, she wanted nothing to do with it.
The bouncy seat was used from the time she was a NB until she was a year old. We rarely used it with the toy bar after the NB stage so she was able to sit in it for just about anything. We put it away when she started "surfing" on it for cheap thrills. 
ETA: I should note that my child hated playground swings too until she was about 2 years old. The swing for us was really a big waste of space in our tiny 1 bedroom apt. I would recommend trying out a friend's first, you're likely to know instantly if it's going to work with your child. The bouncer is a safe bet IMO.
