For those who did a cake smash

How much cake did your LO actually eat at their cake smash? How did they respond to it? Was it your LOs first time trying cake?

Re: For those who did a cake smash

My son didn't care at all for it. We actually had to smear some on him to make it look like he ate it

Now my daughter. She pulverized it. Rolled in it. Loved it.

Moved on to his after

Made for great pics lol

For the cake smash he barely touched the cake.
His birthday party he picked up the little cake and went for it! He ate a good amount before I stopped him, he was fine.

It was the first time DD had cake. She had a little icing but never really made it past that into the cake. She was okay with it but didn't go nuts for it. I had to help her smash it a bit. She was good for a few minutes and then started telling us she was all done.

He really didn't much of it. He didn't like how it was sticking to his fingers.

Re: For those who did a cake smash

They play and eat a bit, then we take something to smash the cake for them to look like they ate it and they play and eat some more. My girls did have tiffany blue poops so they did eat some.

Decimated it. Rolled around in it. Wouldn't look up since she was so focused on the cake. Ate a good portion. First time having cake. We are giving her a small one to decimate again on her bday.

Re: For those who did a cake smash

DD was very dainty with it - she took her fingers and pinched some icing off and ate it and then proceeded to turn and SIT on the cake. In the few photos, you can see some colored icing around her lips, but most of landed on her butt.

My MIL made the cake for her, to make the pictures sentimental as well. DD had tasted cake before this time period, so she was familiar with it.

DS only ate it after we cut him 1 slice. Then he ate most of that slice.

At first she didn't want any part of it. She looked completely confused. She would just pick at the frosting, but that was it. We had to entice her! When she finally ate it, that was it!! lol. She was all in it!

Re: For those who did a cake smash

I had to show her to start smashing it.. and then she took it from there for a bit. It wasn't as messy as I had hoped but the pics are great, and I love it. We did buy the same type of cake three weeks before to see if she would have any reaction to it (and that was the first time she had cake) before smearing it all over her. At the actual smash, she took a taste of it but wasn't at all about eating it.

At first my ds would not touch it, so we spread some around his mouth and his face and after he actually tasted it, he ate some and we were able to take a few pics. BUT THEN.....he started to throw it (more like hurl it) across the room, I felt so bad for the photographer. She was covered in cake and there was blue frosting EVERYWHERE!!!. I actually stayed afterwards and helped her clean the frosting off the walls. I didn't think a one year old could throw so far and so hard. lol
