That would have been more than half our closing costs! Chat Icon

I will have to take a look... but I can't imagine that a title search / title insurance / and the title closer's appearance fee would be over $6k! Chat Icon

They will give you a breakdown of all the closing costs at the closing... What are your total costs? (if you don't mind sharing...)

Our biggest expense was mortgage tax, I think... but we didn't escrow. (If we had, it would have been the escrow amount)

Are you SURE that amount doesn't include the next round of taxes that are due? Chat Icon (shot in the dark)

I am on the phone now with them, something is not right Chat Icon

On my GFE: There is a charge for City/County Tax/Stamps Nassau/Suffolk for $2,946, does that sound right?

Good luck!! I hope you get it all sorted out. I'd also ask your lawyer about this. Didn't he or she order the title???

Yeah my Lawyer did. I have the GFE and it is actually adding up to that amount, but seems high

Then it might be right... What is the breakdown of fees to the title company? Could it possibly include taxes you have to reimburse the seller for?

It's Possible, I guess. Looking at the GFE, the big charges:
Owners Coverage Title Ins - $2,365
City/County Tax Stamps - $2,946
Attorney Fee - $700

There are other fees as well, but those are the bigger ones.
