Did you leave their Christening outfit on them the whole time? DS will either be wearing Daddy's outfit or his Godfather's (my brother) outfit.

No, we bought a nice white cotton onesie with a cross on it for DS to wear afterwards. Those silk outfits are uncomfortable to wear all day long.

Well she spit up all over it so we changed her about an hour into the party.

No - I had DH keep her in it until most of the guests had arrived - then he changed her

She had hers on the whole time. She was sleeping most of the time anyway.

She was in her dress the whole night - i figured this was the only time she was going to wear it anyway - it worked well. She slept a good portion of the time we were there and mingled with the guests. She was exhausted when we got home and sleeping - she didn't even wake up as we changed her into her pjs that night.

He wore it up until about an hour before we left. I changed him into this really nice baby blue strechy with white trim I found at Janie & Jack.

We had 2 outfits.
We had the special family heirloom one that he wore at the church.
Then a newer outfit that his godmother bought him that he wore to the party.

Re: For those of you who had a party for your child's Christening...

On DD's christening day it was 95 degrees soo hot and sticky, DD is a hot baby, so that dress came off right after the ceremony at the restaurant after pictures. Otherwise she would have been in it the whole tiime

I had a satin bib with a cross on it, that I put on her over her dress she changed into.

We changed them both once we got back to the house (where we had both parties).

Changed her into a white dress...her gown was so slippery and it was so old I didn't want to get it all messy....and wanted her to be comfortable

No way. He was really warm. I put him in a white onsie and called it a day. Plus, the way he was spitting up there's no way that it would have been used again.

Yes, we kept DS dressed in his outfit the entire time, but that's mostly because he slept the entire time!!

Nope. We changed him into a onesie with a cross on it (bought it at Fortunoff) and cute pants. He was so much more comfortable

My grandmother bought him a 2nd outfit but he ended up wearing his christening suit the whole time.

We changed them because the outfit was too uncomfortable. It was also not the one I would have picked - it was DH's christening gown.Chat Icon
