switching her formula from regular similiac to the isomil (soy) made a HUGE differnce. Mylicon helped as well.

Good Start Formula and good old evenflo no frills bottles. Before that we tried EVERYTHING! Keep in mind those special formulas are lighter so they are hungry more often as well. DS at every 2 hours

I'm in the same boat. DS has had really bad gas on and off for the past few days. I am BF so I am watching what I eat. I also tried Mylicon but it isn't helping. I just gave Aidan his first dose of gripe water and so far, so good.

Re: For those of you who had a gassy baby...

My DD was soooooo gassy!! So I def know what you're going through. I can remember going to NC to visit my sister and calling a chinese grocery store, begging them to stay open so I could get some gripe water. LOL.

After I was done BFing, and had her on formula, the only one she did well with was the Good Start -- and I tried everything from reg. formula to Gentlease to Alimentum. We only ever used Dr. Brown's bottles. I swear the Gripe Water and the simethicone helped. I also sometimes tried 1/2 an ounce or an ounce of warm water. I just boiled a small pitcher and kept it in the fridge and then when I needed it I would warm it up quick. I kept a few of those 2oz bottles from the hospital, so it was easy to measure such a small amount. Finally, my lactation consultant said to burp her sitting on my lap and instead of patting her back, use your index and middle fingers sort of straddled around her spine and give a bit of pressure to her back down low, around the belly area and then inch your way up the back with the same pressure. She said this is what they have to do with the preemies who can't burp on their own and who are too little for "traditonal burping". We also always kept her upright for at least 20mins after eating, even if she was asleep, we'd just hold her for a bit and we put a little wedge into her bassinet to keep her elevated a bit.

I don't know if any of this helped or if she just eventually got over it. But at least I felt like I was doing all I could for her. Good luck! Chat Icon
