For newborns, after bath lotion

How soon did you start using lotion on your newborn after a bath?

Re: For newborns, after bath lotion

I did right from the start (Johnson and Johnson). However, it was very drying so the doctor recommended Cetaphil Restoraderm.

A few weeks old he was a little dry so I used the Burts Bees baby lotion I had. He isn't normally dry, so I don't use it all the time.

Great thanks, I am not sure if I should do it or not since his skin is not dry.

At first I was just using the lotion because I loved the way it smelled! I ended up drying my poor babies skin out. So, maybe if it's not needed you shouldn't.

Re: For newborns, after bath lotion

I did from the beginning. We use Cetaphil and it works wonders! plus it was recommended by their pediatric dermatologist especially for the cold winter months since the heat can dry up their skin as well as constant baths. I gave then and give them now a bath everyday because I wanted to build a routine (which they have down by now----they are 5.5 months). However, I only use cetaphil soap and only use soap every 3 days.
