I'm not too happy to hear about the tylenol.....I haven't taken any my whole pregnancy, even when I got BAD headaches.
Until, last week....when I had a bad cold and sore throat. I wanted to take something and figured that was the safest. Of course, I am in my third tri-mester.

Re: For Mommies who are NOT going to BF...Please Come In!!!

I BF my son for close to two years and he is allergic to nuts, cats and dogs. But when I found out that I'm having twins I decided that I wouldn't BF them, I think it would be just too much for me. I enjoyed nursing my son but it was very time consuming so this time I don't think I can do it.

I'm just not comfortable with the idea of BF. It's not for me.

This was a tough one for me. I had originally said I was try it out but would only be able to do it for 4-6 weeks because I'd like DS to be on formula before I went back to work. I was not really 100% committed to the idea of having DS latched on my boobs and having a consultant having to touch me and see me naked. But I said I'd "deal" with it until one day I thought about my asthma. I have terrible asthma and I take steroids daily. I was also hospitalized for 5 days during my pregnancy due to my asthma. During that time, and throughout my pregnancy, I was forced to expose DS to all of my medications and all of the steroids that I had to take. Before he was born I called the pediatrician and asked them about BFing while taking my medications (which I MUST take daily). The pediatrician said that there is really no research out there that explains the long term affects of the baby getting the steroids via breast milk. Therefore, they recommended that I don't BF given the meds I've already exposed DS to and the continued meds he's be exposed to via breast milk. I felt some guilt about this because I felt like people were judging my decision not to BF. Even today when people ask me if I am BFing I say no...and then feel like I have to explain why. I guess this is just something I need to move past on my own.

Additionally, my SIL is nursing. She is a saint for doing it as far as I can see because it is a lot of work and you really have to be committed. With that being said, I was bothered by the fact that my brother couldn't feed my nephew for the first 3 months of his life. I wanted DH to be able to have daddy time with DS and to help me out when I needed rest.

Krista, I know what you mean about having to explain, why you are not BF.

People constantly ask me if I will BF. I usually say I'm not sure...because I honestly wasn't....but, I have said, no...and they look at me wierd.
Maybe it's all in my head and I just need to get over it. I really have to do what is right for me. We ALL do!

A dose or two of tylenol wasn't the issue, it was continued use of it. Don't worry about this please. Chat Icon Who knows if it was true anyway? But I am sure one dose would not pose an issue, it's long term use.

Re: For Mommies who are NOT going to BF...Please Come In!!!

I have always said that I will not breast feed... I just feel comfy with a baby hanging off my breast... And when I had DS my DH wanted me to BF and I told him NO... But I just had surgery on my breast to have a cyst removed a month before I got preggo, so the dr told me not to because of healing issues..

it is def. a personal choice and I did not let my ped. or the hospital talk to me about it.. everytime they tried I told them dont waste your breath I will not change my mind... I am bottle feeding..

Also when DS was born I told the nurse to keep him in the nursery for the overnight feedings so I can sleep.. Yeah that lasted a whole 2 days while I was there.. I had my room to myself until this girl came and she was BFing and woke me up all hours of the night...

If you are not BF ask the hospital not to put you in a room with someone who is.. if at all possible... it is bad enough you are getting woken up by nurses taking your temp and blood pressure and just asking if your ok, but to have a crying baby while you are trying to sleep and rest before you have to go home with your own and really get no sleep is no fun...

Now that I am preggo with # 2 and in a totally different state... I hope they do things different..

Ok so I said enough these hormones really make me talk out my @ss.....

Are you concerned about... not giving your DC all the good nutrients that Breast milk has, and formula does not?

That is constantly on my mind. Like I would be a mean mommy for not giving my child the best.

I did feel like this at first but now I have a healthy 2 1/2 yr old that was FF most of his life and do not feel that way anymoreChat Icon
