Food Poisoning at 10 weeks

So I went to a restaurant in Nassau this past Tuesday and of course I wanted to be healthy and have a salad. WELL, I got food poisoning. Chat Icon

I know it was from the salad and this place because my SIL and I shared it and she got sick the same day. Of course it had to be NYE right.

Now I'm freaking out. I'm 10 weeks and so scared this harmed the baby. Has anyone had this while pregnant?

Did you go to the ER or your OB?

It was just a plain salad with pears and walnuts. Who would know this would cause food poisoning.

I only vomitted for a day (about 8 times) and my stomach was sensitive for about 3 days after. I was able to eat small and drink fluids the next day.

Being a nurse, I would call your doc in the morning!

I think you are probably ok! I tend to not panic so I probably wouldnt call the dr. unless I was dehydrated at the time.

Hope you're feeling better!

Ugh! Yuck SueChat Icon Chat Icon

I'd call the OB, but in the meantime, stay hydrated and you should be fine. I vomitted WAY more than 8x a day at 10 weeks EVERYdayChat Icon Chat Icon

Would the Dr. be able to tell what bacteria it was?

Re: Food Poisoning at 10 weeks

I had food poisoning when I was about 17-18 weeks pregnant with Landon. I ended up going to the ER because I was sick for 3 days and very dehydrated. I got a few bags of IV to hydrate me and zofran in the ER. Nobody tested for bacteria or was overly concerned. The dr. was only concerned about dehydration. If it has passed and you are able to drink you should be fine. I wouldn't worry. Chat Icon

I had food poisoning at 13 weeks - my doc just said to stay super hydrated and to eat easy-on-the-stomach foods until I felt completely better.

Okay, that makes me feel a little bit better. NYE all day I couldn't eat or drink. I tried but it just came up. Friday I drank tons because I was so scared, eventhough I felt sick.

I'll call the Dr. tomorrow. I've just been freaking out about it. I know that my fluids were okay and that's why I didn't go to the ER for an IV. Just hope I made the right decision. Chat Icon

You'll be fine! I only had to go to the ER because I couldn't keep water down for over 24 hours!

Re: Food Poisoning at 10 weeks

Wow it must have been something with New Years cause if you look @ my post the same thing happened to me on New Years Eve/day.

I ate 2 falafel sandwiches with hot sauce... well lets just say the next day I threw up like 7/8 time PLUS horrible runs (sorry tmi).

I went to the ER and they put me on an IV and Reglan and told me to eat plain the next few days...

Today I feel much better but still not 100% ready to eat EVERYTHING.

Feel better soonChat Icon

If you are worried call your dr. It might not have been food poisoning. There is a stomach virus going around.
