FMLA paperwork question
Does anyone know which doctor we need to give the FMLA paperwork to to fill out for DH? The pediatrician or my OB?

FMLA paperwork question
Since you're the one with the "disability" you would give it to your doctor. The only time FMLA paperwork would be given to a ped was if you were taking extended time off to take care of a sick child.

FMLA paperwork question
Ok so for DH to take FMLA time it would technically be for him to take care me, not the baby? DH only plans to take two or three weeks off until I'm recovered enough from my csection to take care of the baby on my own while he's at work, so I guess it would make sense if the paperwork was filled out listing me as the family member he is taking time off for. I'm still confused though bc we were under the impression that he is allowed up to three months if he needs it, not that he plans to take that long. So I assumed that was for a situation where he would be staying home to take care of the baby. We'll have to remember to ask my OB at my next appt.

He is allowed to take up to 12 weeks unpaid and his job will be held for him by law. Is it leave pursuant to the birth of a child but since your OB has treated the "condition" for the duration of your pregnancy that doctor would be the one to fill out the paperwork... A ped wouldn't have access to some of the information needed to fill out the form. I have never recieved paperwork filled out by a ped for the birth of a child. Since the ped is not technically even your child's doctor until after the birth and this paperwork needs to be completed and turned in before the actual birth it needs to be filled out by the OB. The difference is your doctor would fill out form WH-380-E for your and form WH-380-F for DH.

Thanks! That info is very helpful! DH had thought he could wait until after the birth to get the paperwork filled out but we're going to bring it to my next appointment with my OB since I'm due very soon.

No problem... I do this all day But if he plans on going out as of the day they're born then he definitely needs to do it ahead of time, plus it's a lot easier since the doctor is filling it out for you anyway to just have it done at the same time.
