FMLA and Short Term Disability
I teach in the NYC School System. From what I gather on the UFT website it would seem you can go out on FMLA (even before the baby is due which is my plan since I am due 3 weeks into school starting) and then once the baby is born you can file for Short Term Disability (concurrent with FMLA) for a maximum of 6 weeks (V delivery) or 8 weeks (C section). Does this sound right?? I am going to call their benefits line this week but I'm trying to figure it all out at the same time. Thanks!!

Yes this is right. I am due Sept. 12th and my FMLA starts on August 26th. I took off 2 1/2 weeks before the baby is due.
