flying with powdered formula
Question for parents that have traveled with powder formula... Can I bring 2 bottles filled with water for my DS who takes powdered formula? Or will they make me purchase water when i pass security?
The TSA website says breast milk, juice and formula are exempt from the 3-1-1 rule, but technically my bottles wont be pre-made so its just water. I know worst case is they make me dump the water, i'm just wondering what to expect

Re: flying with formula
I think it should be OK... One time I flew and I forgot to empty DS' straw cup that was filled with water, they just took it and tested it to make sure it was actually water.

didn't have any issues bringing bottles filled with water and a thing o' formula. They took them to the back for a sec to "test" them (took them 2 seconds) and then let me go through.

You can but I never did. I always just bought water on the other side. Less I had to carry around the airport and didn't need to worry if the bottles of water were going to spill etc. And I bought the single serve sleeves of formula to travel with.
Bought a can of formula when I got to where I was going.

no issues but they will limit the amount of water you're allowed to bring

I always bring 3 bottled waters and an ice pack with flying with dd. She loves cold water. Never had a problem. Same with formula and milk. Miami airport did a swab test but JFK didnt blink.

we had planned to just buy water after security. But we ended up just buy 8oz bottles of the ready to feed for the plane cause it was just easier!

I don't think they do if the water/drink is for babies. I was reading up on the TSA website because we're traveling at the end of the month and any liquid limitations seem to be disregarded for any baby drinks and food. They mentioned you might have to declare the items when you check in though.

When traveling with a baby they honestly let you do whatever you want. I was never questioned about any baby-related items I brought onboard including water, BM, formula

They let us bring the little bottled waters through security which we used to mix with formula. All they asked was if it was for the baby. They also let us bring a yogurt through once when we said it was for the baby.

No issues - just let them know what you are carrying. At one airport they just asked me if I had the powder with me.
