Flu Shot

I know its recommended that we get the flu shot but what is everyone doing?

I've never gotten the flu shot before, so I'm a little apprehensive about getting it now..

I got it during my first pregnancy and everything turned out fine. I never got the flu and my DD came out perfectly healthy.

I see my doctor on Friday and will ask about getting the flu shot again this time. I imagine they will suggest I do it again.

I have only gotten the flu shot one other time in my life, years ago. I asked my doctor about it and he thought that I should. So DH and I went about a week ago. We both had a sore arm for a few days and I felt a little sniffly for a few days afterwards, but I'm not sure if that was because of the shot or being back in school with my students! Either way, we are both fine now and I know that the antibodies were passed to the baby for at least this winter! Puts my mind at ease

I haven't gotten a flu shot in years, but it is highly recommended so I got one a few weeks ago at my midwife office. I've felt fine since so I'm happy

I got my first flu shot ever about 3 weeks ago and it was fine, no side effects. I got the mercury free shot just in case.

Getting one this week probably w/ the DH... we both have never had it before, but nows a time more than any to get it!

I've never had one either! I do get them for my kids though. I am not working and I am home most of the time... Still not sure but I'd get one if I could.

I don't know what I am going to do. I have never gottenthe flu shot and survived every season. For whatever reason, the flu shot makes me nervous. I have an appt with my dr on the 17th, so I will talk to him about it then.

I got it last week and did last time when I was pregnant w/ the boys. Arm hurt for a day or so. I never get the flu but my dr recommended it so I got it.

I got one at my OB's office last week. I usually get one every year and I got one while pregnant with DS as well - actually, I got two because that was the year they had the separate swine flu vaccine.

I feel the benefits outweigh the potential risks.

I'm still on the fence and need to talk to my OB.

I've never gotten a flu shot so, I'm extra cautious.

I got it when pregnant with Owen, but honestly, this time around I am going to wait until after the baby is born.

I have never gotten it but I will be getting it this year. I am having a winter baby and knowing that this shot will protect my LO for 6 months after birth makes it worth it to me. I plan on getting the mercury free one.

I've never had the flu or a flu shot before. At my last OB appt., Rite Aid was there doing flu shots for anyone who wanted. My dr. said it's strongly recommended (that the flu can be deadly if you're pregnant) and that the worst possible side effects are a fever, achiness, that kind of thing. I ended up getting it. My arm hurt for a few days but I'm glad I did it.

I'm getting it, got it with my other 2 kids and everything was fine! Plus my DD is due right in the middle of flu season so I don't wanna take that chance! My kids n hubby r getting it too!

I got it.

I didn't get it with my first, but then I actually got the flu when she was 6 months old. I was so terrified that she was going to get it. She didn't, but I figured I might as well get it from now in to minimize my chances as much as possible. It sucked - big time.

I'm not getting one. I've never gotten one before and I just don't trust it. I know some people swear by it but I'm not comfortable with it and find it too questionable for my taste.

my OBGYN said 50% of his patients get it and it is my choice. He is fine with what I decide. I didnt get it with DS#1 and i dont think I am going to get it with DC#2. I just personally dont feel comfortable getting the shot while being preggers.

Do what you are comfortable with.

i had never gotten one before but got it about two weeks ago. my arm was sore the day after but that was it.

FYI - they wouldn't LET me get the non mercury free one (this was at Walgreens). The girl didn't specify which one (despite me telling her mercury free) and then the pharmacist called me into the back for the shot and she's like "oh I can't give you this one, you're pregnant!" so i had to wait while she switched it to the mercury free one.

I got one yesterday by my ob. I wasn't planning on it because i have never gotten one before but my doctor kind of made me. (Not in a bad way.) But he said that it is very important that I get it because I can end up in the ICU with the flu and that after the baby is born this is his/her defense against the flu. I would have liked to have done more research and after reading this made sure it was a mercury free shot... but this is a very big/busy practice... I am hoping that it automatically was mercury free.

Got it with BOTH pregnancies.

I've never known anyone personally who had a reaction to the flu shot.

Having the flu is a dangerous thing when you are pregnant.

I get it at our health fair at work every year but that will be after I leave work so I'm going to get one at my Dr. in a week or so. My DH already got his when he was at our Dr. for a check up and our Dr. highly recommended it.

Getting mine tomorrow. Got it while I was pregnant with DD also. With babies born in the winter I am not taking any chances! DD got her flu mist already and DH will also be getting the flu shot.
