Flower Garden border

I'm tired of grass and weeds coming into my flower gardens in my front yard. DH agreed to look into putting stone borders around, since the garden is curved around the front yard.

I saw what was available at HD, but can I see pictures of what some of you have to get an idea. I don't know if I should do 1 high, 2 high or 3 high with the stones.

TIA!

Re: Flower Garden border

I did 4 high because of the dog. I don't have a picture. BUT I had to put a LOT of soil in there.

yea, the higher you go the more dirt you need. that's a real PITA unless you get it delivered.

i have fieldstone, we had someone come and do it. it's really not my favorite thing... i think we got ripped off as well!

How much did it cost you to have it done? FM if you don't want to post. Also, who did you use?

Where did you buy the blocks and roughly how many did you buy for what cost? We've seen so many different prices between HD and Lowes.

We bought them at Lowe's last year. They were $1.99 each I believe. I have no idea how many we bought. I believe we bought 1 full pallet and a 1/2 pallet. But we had 5 total flower beds to do. You need to measure your flower bed area. Each block is 1 ft., so take that measurement and then multiple that by 2 or 3 high. If you aren't sure, I'm sure Lowe's or HD people can help you decide. You can always go back for a few more if you didn't get the right amount the first time. We had the pallets delivered to our house. GL! Also we did this project ourselves. Chat Icon

How much extra was it to have the pallets delivered to your home?

It might depend on where you live and how much stuff you are getting delivered, but I don't remember 100%. I want to say about $85 just for the delivery. I'm sure you can call Customer Service in either store and find out what delivery fees they charge. GL!

Re: Flower Garden border

The previous owners did this to the garden in the front of the house - it's 2 high. I would have done it 3 high, but that's JMO. Chat Icon

Do you have an upclose photo to see what type of stones you have?

They are the same ones that JLDolphin posted above, only they are red! I can look and see if I have a close up if you still want to see them Chat Icon
