Flat Head Advice
If your DC developed a flat head during infancy, what did you do to correct it? How old was your DC when you first noticed it?
Thanks

Flat Head Advice
My sister is going through this now and she started correcting the problem at 5 months old by making sure to turn his head for naps and at night and switch ends of the crib. She also keeps him off of his back as much as possible.
Her DS was at risk for a helmet but the doctor re-evaluated him after 2 months and said she has done a great job at correcting the issue and he is no longer candidate for the helmet.

About 4 months
We just kept him upright as long as possible. He hated tummy time He also had low muscle tone/trunk issues and didn't sit up till 8 months and had pt
We just rotated between play mat, boppy, holding on lap, exasucer. Anything where he wasn't laying flat

Flat Head Advice
My dr sent me to a neurologist by 3 months because he thought it was soemthing way worse. The neuro just told us to make a conscious effort to have him not sleep on that side and even let him sleep on his belly if we were watching. He went back a few months later and it was almost all gone.

Re: Flat Head Advice
Noggin nest. In rock n play, swing, bouncer, etc. basically anywhere where their head would be flat. This helped immensely. Also when putting them to bed/laying down we alternated which side faced the door. So one night they would have their head at the one end of the crib, the next time it would be their feet so not one spot got flat.

Dd1 had a flathead. The noggin nest was great. Timmy time, switching ends of the crib every few days, and the noggin nest corrected itself.
DS started Geri g a flatbed. He's almost 3 months. I noticed it and started doing all those things and it's correcting itself. He's also moving around more so he's not just on one side anymore.
Also switch arms when feeding

Ds has a flat spot on one side. I noticed it around 2 months. He's now almost 4 months. I've been proppibg a light breathable blanket under his shoulder when he sleeps to keep the flat spot of his head up off the mattress. Seems to be helping a bit. Also trying to avoid letting him nap in the carseat, but some days that can't be avoided. Still not sure if it will fully resolve on its own though, since it's still noticeable flat on one side.

I forget what its called but there's a pillow to prevent that. They can't sleep with it at night but if you uzs it daytime when they are in the stroller or PNP or whatever its very helpful

DD's head was a bit flat around 2-4 months. I didn't do anything to correct it, it went away once she started sitting up on her own and sleeping on her tummy. She has a nice round head now at 7 months!

The noggin nest is amazing. I've used it for all three big headed (99%)! Kids. They used it at night and in the swing.at night baby is in a cosleeper right next to me, with Angel care monitor and the Snuza. Only way I felt comfortable with the noggin pillow at night. Also, every diaper change, move baby's head to the opposite side to stretch out neck. Switch arms when feeding/ holding baby. We also let him sleep on his belly, on our chest for naps. He hates tummy time so that helped him.mMy baby was fine at 1 month, at 2 month appointment it was so bad he had a bulge in his forhead, happened so fast. By 3 months it was gone bc of the above advice.

Re: Flat Head Advice
Does DC only sleep on their back? DS only slept on his back and had an extremely flat head. The Dr kept saying he wasn't worried about it cause their heads finish molding by 18 months. He also said to try and turn his head but it just didn't work. Around 5 months DS started turning to his side while sleeping and ultimately it corrected itself. He's 8 months now and his head looks great. I know it's upsetting - I made myself completely nuts but try to hang in there.
