first preg appointment, did you get pap smear?
My doc wouldn't do it on the first appointment he said cervix was too fragile, and 2nd appointment I guess he forgot.
I asked about on the first appointment but didn't think much of it, till I read the Mayo healhty pregnancy book and they say this is what is done between 6-8 weeks.
Opinions?

I had one at my first OB apt I was 7 weeks 5 days. He said he used a different "tool" to scrape the cervix so it wasnt as tough but I still spotted the rest of the night whis according to my ob was completely normal. It stopped by the next morning it did scare me a little b/c i've had lots of paps and never bleed for any of them so I can see why your dr might say its more fragile, however i dont think it will hurt anything.

I didn't have one at my first appt. I want to say I had it done at around 10wks though.

My first appt was at 9.5wks and I had a pap. I did bleed for a little bit afterward but everything was fine.

I also didn't have one b/c about a month prior to that I was in for my annual. Guess I lucked out

I had one done with my first pregnancy in January, but then miscarried in February. I didn't need one this time around and wouldn't have done it even if I did need because I'd be too afraid.

I had one on my 1st visit which was like around 11 weeks I think (i saw another doctor at 8 weeks who did nothing and asked me to make another apptmt which I couldn't get for 1 month!)
They did a Pap. I bled more than she expected, so much so that she double-checked me again to make sure cervix was ok. It was, bleeding stopped quickly.

I'm so glad DH is home, he explained it to me and I feel better.
he's a doc, he looked into it, and he assured me its fine since I have been getting paps almost every year since I was 16.
He says that I've been very generous to my doctors, seeing them so often, hes actually surprised even that the insurance is paying for it, because the recommendation from the American Association of OB.. is to start when your 18 and "Continue having a Pap smear once a year until you've had at least 3 normal ones. After this, you should have a Pap smear at least every 3 years"
So I ask him why all the girls on lif had them done at their first appt... he says doctors feel they can't persuade women to come to appointments regularly that this a good time to get them to have a thorough checkup.
phew! I was really worried for a minute there, that my OB may really be slacking!

I was suppose to (first appt 8 wks), but being I had a PAP at my annual appt a few months before it wasn't necessary.
