first month - ovulation cramps, 6 days of BC, lots to wonder about. lol

me & Dh had agreed that we would wait 6 months before TTC, but all of a sudden last night he suggests that we start trying NOW. I mean, who knows how long it'll take and when it happens we're ready. So obviously I was psyched!

Problem is the BC. I've been off of it for 3 months now and JUST started back up (since we originally agreed not to TTC for another 6 months anyway). I was on my 6th day using it when I decided to just stop and see what happens.

You think those 6 days have affected me though? I wonder if it's even a possibility that I could get pregnant in this first month. I guess that depends on if I ovulate which I assume i should, but who knows what those 6 days of YAZ did to me.

The weird thing is that according to my calendar I probably should be ovulating now (within these next couple days that is). I do feel ovulation cramps, but there's absolutely no EWCM. So i guess I'm not? What's with these cramps then - you think maybe they're just all in my head because i WANT to ovulate? Or do you ever ovulate without EWCM?

I'm gonna take a test with the OPK tomorrow morning and see what's up.

Wish me luck ladies! I guess this may officially be my first month TTC.

... and if anybody has any answers to those previous questions, that would be great. lol. There's a lot going thru my mind right now, I'm still trying to sort 'em all. Sorry this is so long - I'm rambling.

Plenty of people who don't take their BC regularly get pregnant so you never know!


It's probably better to be off BC for the next 6 months anyway to get your cycles regulated. Even if DH changes his mind, you might want to consider using the old pull and pray or condoms. My sister's doctor told her to wait at least 6 months after being off BC to TTC.

My doctor said that we can start trying as soon as we stop BCP, however, she recommended taking at least 400 mcg folic acid daily for 3 mos before trying.

That being said, your cycles on BCP are not necessarily the same as your cycles when you stop. I always got my "period" on the 3rd day of the placebo pills. My first day off BCP lasted 52 days and I am on day 43 of my second cycle, so who knows.

thank you ladies for responding There's just so much I wanna figure out. lol. I hate not knowing.

We'll just see what happens I guess - maybe we'll get lucky

I'm still so curious what these cramps are meaning, if I actually am ovulated or what. Who knows.

and MrsList - thanks for your advice. I think I will just stop BC for good (even if we DO decide to go back to our original plan and wait the 6 months). That's probably the smart thing to do.
