Financially Ready??

Do you feel that you are financially ready??

I keep hearing from people that it'd be obsurd to start TTC since financially we are in some debt. I feel its none of their business and that we'll start trying when the time is right for us (most likely this fall). I mean how often are couples in the ideal financial situation?? I know it'll be rough, but we'll make it work.

Any thoughts on this?

we aren't financially ready - but as the saying goes - by the time you are financially ready - will you still be ready to ttc? (meaning how old will you be, etc)..

You will NEVER be financially ready. You have to get pregnant when the time is right and you will figure the rest out. With a $500K mortgage and credit card debt on top of that we're not in an ideal situation but we'll make it work. Plus, you never know how long it will take to get pregnant. We didn't think it would be hard to conceive and we didn't think we'd have to spend months at an RE but we did and thankfully we're pregnant so we didn't worry about money, we just worried about getting the baby to be honest. The rest will work itself out.

If we were to wait until we were finacially ready...it would probably be my next lifetime
I don't think anyone is EVER "ready" 100%. I know it won't be easy finacially, that is for sure and hopefully won't put too much of a strain on us. It all works out in the end.

you are never financially ready..and the way the economy is right now, it seems like most of us are in the same boat as you.. we are going to make it work! just keep that in your head!! there is always a way!!

Marie,, i agree with everyone on here...
you are never financially ready..and the way the economy is right now, it seems like most of us are in the same boat as you.. we are going to make it work! just keep that in your head!! there is always a way!!

Thanks Deanna! I completely agree with everyone, its just so frustrating to keep hearing that from people! I feel like if we waited, then we'd be waiting a lifetime to have a baby.

If I waited until I had no debt on anything I would be dead. You have to do what feels right for you. You are going to find that many people have stupid things to say when it comes to everything about TTC. Just ignore them and do your own thing.

I have several friends who are waiting because they want to be more financially ready - buy a home first, finish grad school, finish residency, get a promotion, etc.

I don't think $ should deter anyone from starting a family. If my husband had it his way, we'd have our to be conceived childrens' college funds saved before we TTC.

I earn about double what my parents earned combined. When I think about my parents, I wonder how they possibly bought a home in LI and raised us with the little money that they earned. They did fine. You will do fine too.

You are never ready. Even if you think you are your not. So just go out and make some babies Everything will fall into place.

Not really...but from what I hear no one really ever feels ready and if you waited for that day it would be too late

One thing I wanted to do was buy a house first. We had hoped to be in a house towards the beginning of the year and then we'd TTC. When we didn't find a house, I decided I didn't want to put off TTC for at least another 6 months, especially since you never know how long it's going to take. I ended up getting pregnant the first month we tried. We're still house hunting, but I'm glad we didn't put off TTC.
