It is really wrong. You already lied last time you went to Woodloch regarding how many people were in the house. Woodloch is very strict and if they catch you they will ban you. It isn't right to scam people out of what they are owed.

Honestly, I am not sanctimonious AT ALL, but this is one instance where I really do think about my actions instead of deliberately trying to be deceitful. I'm not perfect, but I do try to be HONEST whenever I can.
I agree. Why lie. ESPECIALLY if either of your sons overhears this. Setting a bad example. It's only $85. My take is that $85 in the long scheme of vaction costs is nothing.....
I have to agree. I look at these kind of things as if I can't afford or don't want to pay the money then I probably shouldn't go.
I don't lie about these things.
It's not only $85. It's $170 since its a two night minimum. I can afford the difference, its simply an utter waste of money. Just because I have it doesn't mean I want to throw it away. And the bottom line for me is, I am already paying a premium for myself and my older DS. It's not as though kids over 3 get perks that kids under 3 do not, so I don't really feel like I'm taking advantage of them. My younger DS probably eats as much as the average 1 year old.

No... I think it's totally fine. I have lied about DS's age at Great Adventure. It's expensive and he doesn't even like rides. He stays in the stroller the whole time anyway.
Honestly, my parents have done it when I was a baby and I know lots of other people who do it. I don't think it's a big deal. These places make tons of money. A few young kids getting in will not close it down.

I would do it.
He just turned 3 a few weeks ago...places that charge for kids this young are a rip off IMO. What 3 year old is eating $170 worth of food in 2 days???

We went to woodloch two years ago when DS literally turned 3 the day before we left. I will tell you that when they gave us the bracelets at check-in - they DID ask him how old he was. That is just one thing you should be prepared for. Are you going to tell your DS to lie if he is asked?
I'll be honest - I was SO tempted to lie but, at the last minute I did tell them at check in that he had turned 3 the day before. What made me uncomfortable was that I did not want to have to tell my DS to lie.
ETA: And the fact of the matter is - they have to draw the line somewhere. I get that your child doesn't eat alot - i have a 3 yr old that barely eats as well. that said, if I remember correctly, they are either free or you pay for them - at 3 your DS is certainly enjoying all the amenities and activities more so than at 2. I think that is why they draw the line there. I don't think it's really about the food.

I heard you had a 2 year old! Just be careful. My parents put me on a plane to grandmas and when the flight attendant asked how old I was, I answered "I'm 4, but I'm suppose to tell you I'm 5."
HAHAHAA!!!! this is so something I would say when I was a kid!!! Honest to a fault!

I would say he is two as long as they never asked for his dob in the past. I also don't think it matters if he says he is three bc I was teaching my ds his new age for like a month before he turned. I also think that's a rude, not to mention inaccurate, way for them to "check" but that's not an argument you should make when you're already the one lying, lol.

I agree. We are going to Disney next month and our trip is the day after DS turns 3.
So now we have to pay for his meals and park tickets. He went on many of the attractions there at 18 months, so I am sure he will do the same this time.
It didn't occur to me to lie, the rules are there for a reason. I would be mortified if we were caught for some reason, particularly since I stress telling the truth to my 5 year old all the time

OMG....My siblings and I never aged for Woodloch! I was still 17 when I was 22 years old so that I could get a reduced price! LMAO!

If they ask him point blank or ask when he could hear I say don't lie. I know for DD being 3 was such a big thing for her and saying she was 2 would confuse her. If they don't ask or ask at check in while you're with the kids somewhere then who cares. I do say you have to draw a line somewhere, but it's just a few weeks. I guess my only caution would be the rational that he doesn't eat a lot. People could rationalize it for so many other things as well.

I don't have any moral problem with it, but I'd be too chicken to try it--especially on my own, so I'd suck it up and pay. We're probably going to be facing a similar dilemma when we go to Disney a couple of weeks after my DS's 3rd birthday...

I have a bigger issue with the $85 difference between age 2 and age 3. That's absurd. I think you should do what you're comfortable with. My DD is very tall for her age and we used to always get looked at suspiciously even though I never lied about her age. I used to carry a copy of her BC because I refused to pay for a kid older than she was.

I would just because DS does not eat out.. With food allergies and his special needs, I can't see spending 85$ on him for the use of a pool. He would sleep in my bed...
I use to take my cousin to a place in the Pocono's and it was $45/weekend. Then the next year, it went up to $75/weekend. When I called and asked what they added for the extra money, they said nothing.. It only included breakfast and dinner. No extras except a pool... We stopped going... Some places are just out of control with charging for little kids. If they are staying in the same room as the parents, there is no reason to charge so much for a toddler.. I have the same opinion on Disney and all the other places that overcharge for a 3 year old! JMO

I don't understand the point of asking kids though. My 3 yo DS always says he is 6 when asked because my DD is 6. Kids sometimes lie or don't know their age. My DD always knew but my DS just says whatever.

Reality is Aug 22nd. But when she was 3 I would have had to pay for her meals.. saying she 'just' turned 3 made her free

My parents used to do this to me all the time, when it came to movies, ordering from the children's menu, etc. I see both sides of it. No, it's not right to do, but in the scheme of things that are "not right," I don't think it's such a big deal. I would do it if it was close to my DC's birthday.
On the flip side, my nephews were always big for their age, so my sister and BIL would say that they were older if they needed to me in order to visit my father when he was in the hospital (heck, we even had doctors who helped us bend the rules for them to see him). There are no financial repercussions there though.

We paid for everything for 3yo DS on our trip to Disney. We could totally have not paid for him but I didn't want to tell him to lie if someone asked him how old he was.
Even though we bought him a ticket, besides the first point of entry/activation, no one asked for his ticket and we skipped the ticket altogether for him even though we already paid for it. He just rolled right in the double stroller with his younger brother.
I do admit I did say he was under 2 when he was 2 but now that he is older, it is a whole new ball game. I don't want to teach him to lie.
