FH's sciatica - advice needed!
We're on vacation in California, and FH has sciatica so bad right now, he can't move. He feels terrible shooting pains down his leg and his foot has gone numb. I feel so bad for him. We have no idea what to do and we're 2000 miles away from his doctor. Painkillers are doing nothing and applying a heating pad made it much worse. Google searching is turning up like 100 different conflicting pieces of advice... does anyone here suffer from this or know someone who does? Know of any home remedies? TIA so much.

I get it all the time. Do not use heat. Apply an ice pad every hour for 20 minutes Scott

I'm pg and had a really bad weekend with the pain.
The ice pack was a miracle worker and also not sitting for long periods of time. Walk for a little bit every half hour or so.
I hope he feels better!!

I agree on the ice. Heat makes mine worse. Stretching is the other thing that helps. Laying/sitting is the worst, I totally feel his pain, hope it gets better

Okay, it seems like ice is definitely the way to go, then. I'll go get him some now. Thanks so much for the advice and the well-wishes!

I was going to say the same thing. He should definately ICE it and don't sit for too long. That makes it much worse.
