fertility monitors
Im new to this board and was reading some posts and very overwhelmed with ttc. But good luck to all of you!
dh decided he wants to ttc .....
my dr already told me that it was gonna be difficult but we want to try on our own for the first year before asking for dr assistance.
my question: have any of you used a fertility monitor to help you figure out your ovulation day? My cycle is not regular so I was considering using one for at least 2 months for extra help
Thanks for you help!

Re: fertility monitors
I just started using the CBFM (Clear Blue Fertility Monitor) this cycle. I really like it, but it's expensive so you probably want to try w/o it for a bit. You could temp or use OPKs, or just try to track your CM. Why did you doctor tell you it would be difficult? If you have certain fertility issues or really long cycles the CBFM won't work.

Re: fertility monitors
what is an opk? I dont know y she said it would be difficult I know she said I have small insides and that carrying a baby full term would be difficult and I'd probably be on bed rest. I think she meant I may be tilted? thats y it would be difficult? Im not sure I have to make an appointment and talk to her more about it (I wasnt interested last appointment bc I wasnt ready or married)

Re: fertility monitors
im sorry but i dont understand?
she said u had small insides?like frame or organs?
my sister is 5 feet and like 100 pounds and she has 4 kids..
as for being tilted..like ur uterus is?..i have heard of that but i think it just makes it a bit harder for sperm to get to egg..i think..
either way i would call back and get a better explanation

Re: fertility monitors
ok I think this is what she meant...my uterus is tilted and I remember she said I had a lot of systs on ovaries (I dont know if that makes a difference) and my organs are small, so carrying full term would be difficult................I have no idea like i said this conversation was about 2 yrs ago so I need to go back and talk to her!
Thank you all for your help and hopefully soon there will be a baby on board!!!!
I still want to know what a opk is????

Re: fertility monitors
The opks, are the sticks you use during your cycle. These are probably a good way to start. A CBFM is a monitor with its own sticks. I know you said your cycle is irregular, but is it really long or short? If your cycle is shorter than 21 days or longer than 42 the CBFM is not recommended, but I don't think these same rules apply for OPKs. Here is an OPK (1st pic) and a CBFM (2nd pic). They are both made by Clear Blue Easy, you can check out their website. Image Attachment(s):
