Fender Bender-- New Car seats??
Got hit- fender bender
Many people tell me to replace car seats even though such a minor accident.
We now have the Britax Marathon. My twin boys are almost 4 (October)
Which 5 point harness should I get?
Suggestions.......

Q. Can I continue to use my child seat after it has been involved in a crash?
A. BRITAX recommends that the use of a child seat be discontinued if it has been in a moderate to severe crash. We further advise of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) position that it is not necessary to replace a child seat after a minor crash.
A minor crash is one that meets ALL of following criteria:
The vehicle was able to be driven away from the crash site; AND
The vehicle door nearest the child restraint was undamaged; AND
There were no injuries to any of the vehicle occupants; AND
The air bags (if present) did not deploy; AND
There is no visible damage to the child seat.
Recommended combination seats

Fender Bender-- New Car seats??
Yes I saw that. Every other brand says change no matter what. Why take a chance??? Besides accident was other person fault so there insurance company is paying.

Fender Bender-- New Car seats??
I had a minor fender bender last yr. Was able to drive car no injuries no other damage but the bumber no air bags. I did NOT replace my car seat.

If you didn't replace your car seat, its your choice. EVERY BRAND I checked said CHANGE THEM. (except britex) It doesn't matter how minor. I am not taking a chance.
Just wondering what car seats to get? Which is a good 5 point harness.

Fender Bender-- New Car seats??
I don't know what seat, but Dh was in the most minor fender bender and we replaced seat. Upgraded to a convertible car seat from an infant. Geico said as long as pricing was similar it didn't matter.

Imho I would replace them. Even if it's minor YOU have no idea how the car seats got "stressed" in this accident. Did the plastic where the seatbelt holds them get word or "stressed" in any way? You don't know.
I would replace.

Same thing happened to me in the fall. We got new seats - the other driver's insurance covered it.
I got two Diono Radians that turned from convertibles into boosters. DD1 was 4 at the time and I knew she should still be in a 5-point harness.

We have a few Graco Argos seats and I like them a lot. The newer models are great (we have older ones as well which I grew to love after the buckle recall but, the newer ones have 3 position options for the crotch strap which is my other complaint for my older one).

Insurance will buy you new seats if the car is not driveable after the accident or if there is visible damage to the seat. They told me otherwise replacement is not needed. I'd imagine the carseat company will tell you yes you need a new seat always.
Our car was not driveable after the accident and had to get towed so insurance bought us a new seat.

Thanks EVERYONE!!. The insurance company replaced car seats without question. They were surely not happy about the price $607. because I needed two because of twins. They took back the old ones. We are thankful & the boys LOVE THEM with the cup holder. LOL

I had to contact them twice since they ignored our first request with receipt for the seat, but once I called and explained the seat was not usable they very quickly offered a new seat or payment for this one.

we got Graco Nautilus after I got into an accident. Geico didn't want to give us a new car seat, but after my body shop called them - they did it no questions asked.
I am glad your insurance did it also. Why take a chance!
