Father Allegedly Kills Man Who Molested His Daughter, Texas Cops Say
Sheriff's deputies in Texas won't file charges against a father who they say beat an acquaintance to death after allegedly catching him sexually abusing the man's 4-year-old daughter.
During a social gathering on Saturday, the girl went inside the family's home in Shiner while other members of the family were tending to horses outside, CNN reported.
The father caught a 47-year-old man -- with whom he was casually acquainted -- attempting to molest his daughter, Lavaca County Sheriff Micah Harmon told the Victoria Advocate. The father then allegedly punched the man in the head until he died, Harmon reported.
The father and daughter weren't named to protect the identity of the 4-year-old girl. She was described as "ok, besides the obvious mental trauma" of the incident, Harmon said.
The alleged abuser was found dead at the scene. His name wasn't released pending the announcement of his death to his family.
The sheriff's office will defer to a grand jury to decide whether charges will be brought against the father.
"You have a right to defend your daughter," he told CNN. "[The girl's father] acted in defense of his third person. Once the investigation is completed we will submit it to the district attorney who then submits it to the grand jury, who will decide if they will indict him."
The father was reportedly "very remorseful" about the death and did not know the alleged abuser would die of his injuries.

While I can't condone taking the law into your own hands, I can't deny the part of me thinking "Way to go, Dad!". I only hope the 4 year old didnt witness it.

This makes me wonder though....are all incidents of protecting yourself or family handled in the same manner? I have to say I am surprised the man isn't being charged, with the way our legal system works sometimes. Is there any proof that the child was actually being molested? KWIM?
If so, then I sure of course don't blame him for going into a rage. Just curious how they are so sure what he says is true.

I always make snide remarks about Texas, and how everyone carries a gun and whatever...but I have to say this is one time I'm glad that state's politics are the way they are.
I can't fault that dad for a second for what he did. I know in my heart if it, God forbid, was my child I don't think I'd feel any remorse for killing the SOB.
I'm sure he'd get jail time in New York under the same circumstances.

While at face value I couldn't care less if a child molester was beaten to death, it does strike me that it's coming down to what the father's testimony against this man was, versus actual evidence.
I'm more curious that charges haven't been brought up yet against the man for beating someone to death, regardless of whether they get dropped, aren't they usually brought against the person to begin with?

I can honestly say that there is no man or god who could have torn me off of that animal before he stopped breathing - and it wouldn't even have to be my kid that I was trying to protect.

I'm more curious that charges haven't been brought up yet against the man for beating someone to death, regardless of whether they get dropped, aren't they usually brought against the person to begin with?
Although i'm not familiar with laws in Texas and how they may (or may not) differ from NY, I *think* that if it's clear that the dad has the "heat of the moment defense of others" defense, to the point that they essentially know that the elements of the crime can't be proven beyond a reasonable doubt, they make the decision not to file charges. Maybe knowing it would ultimately be a waste of taxpayer dollars

I totally agree with this. I mean, if I were a juror and he were on trial, and I was convinced the guy was actually trying to molest his daughter, I would acquit him without blinking an eye. I'd probably even give him a hug. But he murdered someone, he still needs to stand before a court and let THEM decide if he's guilty or not.
ETA: Isn't everyone supposed to be innocent until proven guilty? That doesn't mean charges aren't brought....

It seems pretty early in the investigation, we will see what comes to light. I can only imagine what that scared little girl was thinking having been molested and what her father punch a guy until he died. I don't blame him for a second for what he did.

I say good for him. You hear you (or anyones for that matter) kid being hurt, and molested you stop it. I would have killed him too. These things make me wish it was an eye for eye. WHO is going to convict this man? He was protecting his child, and a scumbag got in the way and died. Oh well.

Don't forget - it doesn't take much, when punching someone in the head, for them to die sometimes... one or two real good hits in the 'right' spot (meaning, the wrong spot) can kill someone or cause SERIOUS brain injury with not too much effort.
That being said, he came in on his daughter being molested and had to defend her safety and her life so he did what he had to do, as a parent. It is third-party self defense, in my opinion.
And if anyone ever lays a finger on my child or children I swear, I won't physically be able to stop myself from LOSING MY SHIT. It's like a grizzly bear with his/her cub, literally.

As the mother of a 4 year old girl, I would spit on him after my husband had his way with him. I think in an instance like this, there should be no charges filed. May he rot in hell!

I don't know TX laws (which I am guessing are far more lenient than those in NY), in NY you cannot use deadly force unless deadly force is being threatened. As disgusting as child molestation is, it does not constitute deadly force and therefore the dad would only be able to use the force necessary to stop what was happening - meaning that once the guy was down and he could safely remove his daughter from the situation, he would have had to stop in order to now be legally culpable. But, like I said, this is NY law, not TX

Unfortunately, this fu*ker wasn't killed soon enough. At age 47, I fear he has victimized MANY children before this little girl.
I would have done the same. God help anyone who lays a hand on my child. It scares me to think I would not even have remorse after.
