Re: Fake vs Real
I have always had a real tree. I just love the smell. The only reason I am wanting to try a fake tree is the ease of the whole setup and clean up
ETA key word" wanting" as I have been vetoed again by my kids

Re: Fake vs Real
Real.
To be honest (and I don't mean to be disrespectful to anyone who gets the fake ones) I'd not have a tree then get a fake one.

Re: Fake vs Real
Im a fake-y
I hate having to "deal" with the needles and wahtnot and the fake ones are prelit and soooooo pretty!!!
I also find it is easier to hang ornaments on the fake ones.

Re: Fake vs Real
Real.
it just makes christmas feel so much more.... real to me (sorry for the pun)
i love going to pick it out.. the smell... everything about it (minus, the pine needles everywhere).
the only downside is that i wanted to put up our tree this weekend, but i think its way to early for a real tree- it will be brown and brush firey by the time christmas finally gets here so, we have to wait another week or so.
but, we also dont have anywhere to store a fake tree, so its easier this way anyway

Re: Fake vs Real
I always had a real tree - and said that I would never get a fake one. Let me tell you - it was the best thing we ever did! It's so easy to put together.
It's so full that it looks like it's real. There are no pine needles all over the house.
I don't have to worry about it being crooked or straight.
No watering which is great because I hate squeezing myself into the tiny little nook to end up getting water all over the place.
I don't have to worry about it falling and breaking all of my pretty ornaments!

Re: Fake vs Real
I prefer fake - no needles to clean up, always a great looking tree, sturdier branches to hang heavier ornaments.
DH likes real - so every year we get a real one. I do like the tradition of getting a real one. He & ds go out to buy one together. Last year, DS misunderstood the point of shaking a tree to see how dry it was - he was shaking them & saying "Dad, I think this one sounds good!"

Re: Fake vs Real
Fake- Because I dont have to worry about cutting down a Real Tree and dealing with the needles on a real tree falling on the floor and have to vaccum it up everyday as for a Fake tree I just Put it Up& take it down and Put it back in the Box for the next year.

Re: Fake vs Real
We had gotten a real tree each year until the year we had one that was infested with tiny little bugs. It was months before we got them all out of the house. Never again!

Re: Fake vs Real
We've had a real tree for so many years, but now with two kids, and less time, we're thinking that an artificial tree may be the way to go. Easier, no clean up, and pre-lit!

Real - I love the way they look. I've never seen a fake tree that matches the way a real tree looks.

Re: Fake vs Real
I LOVE real ones, the smell, the whole going to cut one down, or pick one out. Real ones are a pain though, the needles, taking off the 800 lights I put on, making the whole needles issue even worse...
I had to go with fake this year. DD is starting to move and I am to nervous she will pick up the needles and eat them. I know I can block her, but I always find those damn needles months after. So, for the next few years fake it will be!

Re: Fake vs Real
we had a fake tree since I was small and about 9 years ago started getting a real tree. This year we are back to a fake tree. I kive it. Its easier to take careof and you can start decorating as early as you want. Wed go for the real tree together and had to wait till a time when everyone was free.

Re: Fake vs Real
We have a fake tree....the upkeeping is obviously easier....don't have to worry about needles falling all over the place, we can keep it up a lot longer and our tree kinda looks real....wouldn't know it's fake!

Yes, this is true.
We also have always had fake- not just b/c of what was mentioned above but b/c I'm big on the environment, animals and preserving it whenever we can. I just don't see the need in getting a real tree when you can have a fake one... My Uncle lives in Washington and they literally cut down almost an entire mountain of trees- the mountain will just be BALD and all those animals will die b/c of that- the demolition that takes place- it's horrible! They say they re-plant but most of the time they don't- if they do, it never grows back the same and you can't bring those animals back and their natural habitat... I wish I had a pic of the mountain before and after- it's SICKENING
So we are big on the fake- two pieces, pre-lit, the dog doesn't go NUTS b/c there is no pine smell, no needles and no harming the environment!
