Extended Daylight Savings Time!
Am I the only one that didn't know about this?
WHere have I been... under a rock I guess!
Important Information Regarding Expanded Daylight Saving Time
Starting in the spring of 2007, daylight saving time (DST) in the United States will be expanded by 4 weeks in compliance with the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
DST will start 3 weeks earlier, beginning at 2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March. It will end 1 week later, concluding at 2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November.
Change in Daylight Saving Time for 2007
Previously DST Started on:
First Sunday of April
With the new law DST will Start on:
Second Sunday of March
Previous DST Ended on:
Last Sunday of October
With the new law DST will End on:
First Sunday of November

I knew about it since they enacted it. I've been complaining for years (mostly to myself) that I thought it was dumb that they made it darker earlier the weekend before Halloween. That basically guaranteed that little kids would be wandering the streets in the dark. At least now, they have an extra hour before it gets dark.
A lot of computers need to be updated because of this. We're doing that at my office now. Just another FYI.

I had to do an update for our ADP timeclocks months ago. I should probably make sure that our 100+ servers will automatically update themselves correctly.

I think it's a great idea
except- that is the one weekend I go to Chicago for a huge trade show
so we are going to lose an hour the night before the show starts- after setting up for 3 days
the timing is just really bad- I am going to be so confused
I will already be 1 hour off- and this makes it 2

Yah... not fun. Guess what, Microsoft's own products don't use the operating system's timezone information.. so if you use exchange, sharepoint, etc - you ALSO need to patch those applications separately and not just the OS.
We're meeting today to discuss test plans.. this is worse than the year 2000 uneventful flip.
