I don't think a 3 month old is developmentally ready for an exersaucer.

Wait until four months old. Check with your pediatrician at the four month appointment to see if DC is ready then.

I put my 4 month old (probably about the size of a 3 mo old) in the jumperoo and she couldnt reach. She kinda just sunk in. I even put a box and towels under her so her feet had something to stand on. I think they need to be sturdier to use them like 4-5 mo. We have the little einsteins neptune exersaucer but its still in the box.

We have the Bright Starts Activity Center. DD loves it. We started her in it at about 4 months. The doc said as long as she can sit independently, she can go in it. We did have to put a book underneath her feet, or else her legs would've been flailing all over the place.
ETS - I meant to say that we put her in it when she could hold her head up on her own, not when she could sit up on her own. The particular one we bought had this little adapter thing that sort of held her up/into place.

I have a Brite Star. I started putting tiny tot in when she was 3 1/2 months because she was able to control her upper body in it. Even at the lowest setting she couldn't reach the bottom .Mama Bear suggested I put a pillow on the bottom so her feet could touch something and not feel like she was having a non stop wedgie
She will be 7 months soon and she still can't reach the bottom in her exersaucer and jumperoo. Poor child is tiny like mommy

We got DS the Bright Starts Around We Go (click here ). We put him in it at 3 months old and he didn't care about it at all.
Now (at 4 months) he looooves his jumperoo. We got him the Fisher Price Rain forest one (click here ). We originally had to put a pillow under him so he could reach.

Exersaucers for 3 month old
We had a jumperoo. I think we strted about 4-5 months. DS had great head control but he's peanut and couldn't touch. He only used it for a couple of months because once he was on the move he wanted no part of it...so just after 6 months it got put away.
It was good if DS was a bit backed up....great laxative!!!!!

We started to put my DS in his at 3.5 months (for short periods of time to give him some time off his head, in addition to tummy time). I don't see anything wrong with it if they have head/neck control & your Ped isn't opposed. If you think your baby is ready, I would recommend propping him/her up, we used to stuff a blanket in the seat around DS so he wouldn't lean. We also had something underneath for his feet.

We waited until DS could hold his head up. We picked one that didn't have TOO many things going on. Some of them give me A.D.D. and look way too overstimulating
He loves the spinning circus top on this.

Thank you. My DS is bored. He's bored with the vibrating chair, hated the swing, is bored in his high chair (I mean what can he do in that) but he does enjoy the play mat. I want him to not be on his back all the time. The only time not on his back is tummy time.
For what it's worth, I'd never leave my child unattended in any piece of equipment we purchase for him. My post was simply to get some ideas to buy for him, not to be told what I should and should not be doing with MY child. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

Thanks for the rec. I will try this too. He does love to move around the house with me. I work from home all day with him, so I am hoping there is something that will keep him interested for some time.

There is also a play seat that looks kinda like a bumbo with a circular tray aroudn it with different toys on it. My MIL bought it for DS and I think we used that around 12 weeks or so.
I can't remeber the name of it but they sit in it and their legs are not in the standign position like the exersaucers or jumperoo.

We have three things, a Baby Einstein exersaucer, a jumperoo, and this Summer Infant activity seat:
The activity seat is DDs favorite. She loves the cups. LOL.
She was breech so I'm not fond of the leg positioning with the exersaucer and jumperoo. She does love the jumperoo but I use it sparingly.

My dd is 3 1/2months old and I just put her in an exersourcer today...I have the baby Einstein Neptune one and she Loved it....I put a towel behind her to prop her up but she has excellent head control...try it if u want you know best what your baby is ready for.

DS always loved baby enstein jumperoo. hes 8 1/2 months now and is just starting to lose interest - but he would go in it for HOURS from 3 1/2 months until about a month ago. it was a lifesaver!!

We have the same one. DD was in it at 4 months with a blanket around her and under her feet. She loved it until she was almost 9 months.
