It means it is a fertile time...you could be about to O, a few days from O, or even O'ing. Often CM dries up some on the actual O day. They say when you see EWCM you are fertile as it is a friendly medium for sperm, so it can hold them and transport them to the uterus where they can live for up to a few days.
