Re: Estimated Weight by Sonogram

I had a sono at 40w2d and DD was estimated 8lb6oz & 8lb12oz(the sono tech got 2 measurements)...DD was born at 41 wks-8lb 4 oz...so they were not too far off for me.

Re: Estimated Weight by Sonogram

The Drs were right on with DS he measured big from the beginning he was 5lbs even at 31 weeks. My midwives don't give you size estimates but the sono techs would say he was bigger and he was 9lbs 4oz at birth.

Crashing here

The day before I gave birth I was told dd was 7lbs10oz, she was 7lbs even and I went a little over 2 weeks early. I wouldn't rely on it.

I heard it can be off by 2lbs in either direction!

This is what I have heard also.

However, with my DS they were pretty right on target. At 34 weeks they estimated him to be 6lbs8oz and then at 37 week they estimated him to be 8lbs. By delivery (at 38w6d) he was born at 9lbs 3oz.

Re: Estimated Weight by Sonogram

I had 2 growth sonos, both preformed at the hospital. One was at 38 weeks and one at 39w4d. The first said 9lb1oz. second was 9lb4oz. DS was born at 40 week (on his EDD) at 9lbs 14oz.

But my ob told me that they could be wrong up to 2lbs to prepare me. However that was why she sent me to the hospital because she felt the staff there would be more accurate. (I was deciding if I wanted to do a c/s or not based on these sonos)
