its frustrating and just one of those things that stinks about not having your own parking.... we don't have our spots either and 1/2 our neighbors do a great job shoveling out their spots and the rest are lazy and just do the minimum

I think it is rude -- even if there are no assigned spots, you should clear out the spot you were parked in. If you are unable to, ask someone for help or try to find a kid who wants to make some money to do it for you. People are rude!

Anywhere else - like a mass public area - annoying
but when you LIVE there with the other people -- just rude.
I couldn't do it myself...I couldn't take someone's spot that they had dug out of when I had not.
I just wouldn't feel right.

Re: err, parking vent
we live in an apt complex too. we have a small parking lot in front of our apts in our development. dh and i both parked our cars there, it snowed, we shoveled both them out. Yesterday everyone parked in their same spots. Today our spots were taken so we had to take other ones.
Hopefully the development will clean the spots that are empty and have the snow still there. They usually do but this snow they were horrible. The neighbors shoveled the paths and the plow came and closed off our paths.

My parent's neighbor does this every time. They clear the spots in front of their house, and this SOB just takes them for his own use. And this in front of a HOUSE. You know someone cleared it intentionally, you know who lives there and how many cars they have and where they usually park.
It's so rude, lazy and obnoxious.
I've heard of some places where its custom to put your garbage pails or a chair in the spot to hold it for you. I wish that was commonplace around here.

I hate to say it but this is how it is when you park in a lot...its the same as street parking. If you live in the city do you really expect the spot to be there when you get back...No. Same as a lot without assigned spots.
Sucks but it is life.
This is how I feel. I've lived in a coop complex. When I dig out and leave for work in the morning, I would have been SHOCKED if my same spot was there again when I got home later that day. It's just the way it goes in apartment living.

Ita with this...sucks but Theres nothing you can do. You need a spot you take one...if it happens to be nice and clean even better. I would never expect to return to my same parking spot once I pullmy car out unless its assigned parking, In a perfect world yes everyone would shovel their cars out and there would be no snow anywhere. But one of the reasons I paid more for an suv is to be able to maneuver in the snow. Plus you don't know everyone's circumstance...the elderly cant clear their car as well as someone younger. 2 years ago Dh had surgery and was in a cast so I was stuck digging my car out and definitely didn't do good job. Someone who has a child on the backseat of their car waiting to go out wont spend the time to clear the perfect spot either. I would see if your complex will start to assign spots bc that's the only way to avoid the problem
