I have no issues with the posts (most of them anyway). I find most of GoldenRod's posts interesting even if I don't agree. The issue is that many people can not debate an issue without resorting to name calling and can not acknowledge that others can have different opinions. That is unfortunate.
Do you agree that it applies to both sides?

It does. And I really don't open most. It's just flooded. And then there are the posts that seem to maybe not be a trump or anyone who doesn't want him skinned alive bashing post and bam, I'm wrong. Then I read all of this. And say wow, these people are really panicking. Like legit panic. Then I feel for them. Then it automatically turns to not so nice words when their panic or fear turns into name calling of fellow Americans. It's disgusting. You can make your point and express your feelings without being a total asshole.
For me, I'm running out things to read on here. I was big on TTC and IF for a while. Now that's not the case anymore. Unfortunately being on those 2 boards didn't bring me to the pregnancy or parenting boards. Which leaves me with Fewer places to interact on LIF. And theee FHF trump posts are making me really not like people on here. And no, not because they are liberal but because they are saying such hurtful things to anyone who doesn't agree with them. And it's sad.
And obviously frustrating

We all know that I like to debate politics. But in this day and age, maybe it's better to leave out politics and religion considering people get into a tizzy. I mean, in 2017 you have to think alike and be sheep or people de friend or don't talk to you. Such ridiculous times we live in.

Of course but most of the insults are directed one way. Personally I would love a good debate that was done respectfully, which I try to do but it always ends up with someone calling me a name or insinuating something about me that if you knew me would be 100% not true.

I would respectively say no one is stopping you (anyone) from posting about your "Every day" stuff.
I feel that this is a place I can come and be pretty incognito and speak my mind about Trump.
I don't think the tone has changed at all. I think the tone of the country has, and that makes what we want to talk about important.

What I find interesting is that (per politico) Suffolk went 52.5% for trump and Nassau 45.9% for trump. You'd never know it from LIF!

I never understand people getting their knickers in a twist over certain topics. This is a public message board not a private one therefore you have no control over what people post. If you don't like the topic don't open it OR if you open it and don't like the way it's headed then move on. I do that several times on here.
I for one find all this political stuff informative. We have a lot of very informed intelligent posters on this board and I for one appreciate that and appreciate reading links that they post.
This was not a normal political season - no matter what side you are on Trump incites discussion be it bad or good. I understand why it makes people want to post and share opinions.
It's human nature that if the posts are not to your liking then that is going to get your back up. Why not post some new posts yourself - no point blaming everyone else and trying to restrict everyone else voicing their opinions - step up and post something else.

I get it. Any post about the weather, how much to give at a wedding, what to tip the delivery guy, traffic updates... Those are REAL posts. Anything regarding people's fears about healthcare, the economy, their kid's education, public safety, the environment... All that stuff is fake because it doesn't concern you? Their fears are invalid? Or maybe you think their fears are valid but they should just run along now because it's dragging down the generally good-natured mood of the board. Tone too somber? Maybe that's because it is! And this is just a reflection of the mood surrounding the country. But you don't care.
BTW Nobody has posted anything that isn't factual. So it may just do you some good yet to read some of it instead of burying your head in the sand. Just because you support the guy doesn't mean you have to support everything he stands for and let him get away with everything he wants.

An ideology that believe ins foreign diplomacy. There is an ideology that supports protecting our rights and freedoms, our healthcare and education systems for all, for standing up to injustices for all and for seeing meaningful changes to our criminal justice system. There is an ideology that wants to see people succeed through livable wages, fair employment, and fair economic policies and taxation that will allow the government to work for the people of America.
Then there is an ideology that supports weakening the government, deregulating the laws that were put into place to protect citizens from governmental and corporate abuses. An ideology that wants to spread Christianity throughout our government, take away womens rights and same sex marriage, to do harm to our freedoms and liberties. There is an ideology that stands to profit by dismantling healthcare and education, that wants to tax the lower income brackets more and place the burden of the economy on their shoulders. There is an ideology that does not believe in livable wages or fair economic practices for all. There is an ideology that seeks to strip away whatever transparency we have in government and privatize it, take away the checks and balances we have, work behind closed doors to take advantage of the American people for their own personal gains. There is an ideology that wants nothing to do with actually helping people.
And for those reasons and a million more - that is why politics has become so volatile. We're not just talking about my pick versus your pick. We're talking about the lives of each and every American. And what those lives are worth to you, why you should or shouldn't care about others, why you should or shouldn't work to make this place better for everyone not just yourself. There is always going to be corruption and shady dealings in politics but when do you say enough is enough? Why is everyone so willing to become collateral damage for someone like Trump? No one wants to ask themselves the really hard questions about why they voted for Trump, or what it would mean to our country. The only sheep like mentality I have seen comes from the Trump supporters who have no clue what it means to care or have empathy or compassion - it's me me me me me me me. We're not going to go far with that attitude. We've sold ourselves out to the biggest con man there ever was.

P.S. Karen, where's the compassion here? Ppl who fear their special needs child may not have access to a quality education are sheep. See what I mean?
