My friend is going through the same thing. She called her congressman's office and they are trying to help her. She's freaking out. She put the application in in March and it has been stuck in the system. Good luck.

same thing happen too us in May.. we ended up getting them 2 days before going to aruba.. We sent them in February... Thank goodness that I was home all day to wait on hold for hours...
I would definately set up an appointment in NYC just in case you don't get them by next week... Do it now, you can always cancel the appointment...
