Egg retrieval WITHOUT anesthesia??
Has anyone here NOT had anesthesia for an egg retrieval? How painful is it? How long does the procedure take?
Thanks for any information you can share!

I haven't heard of that. They knocked me out and I was so glad that they did. I only slept for about 30 minutes and woke up w/ no pain.

Re: Egg retrieval WITHOUT anesthesia??
Believe it or not there are lot of RE offices that DON'T use anesthesia. I know a few ppl that had to go through it without. Personally, I don't want to be awake, but it you are doing mini IVF then they are not expecting to have a lot of eggs so it should be a very fast procedure.
I think New Hope Fertility in NYC is one that doesn't use it. And then there are others across the country.

Yes, I am doing Micro-Ivf. He said that considering my age and history, he expects to get 4 or 5 eggs.

My RE definitely uses anesthesia, and I personally wouldn't want it any other way.

Re: Egg retrieval WITHOUT anesthesia??
for me, as nervous as I was since I had never been under before, I was SO looking forward to the sleep after all those early morning monitoring visits! It was the best sleep I had, had in a LONG time!
