egg retrieval was cancelled
Of course my ovaires Hyperstimulated and I was in so much pain I that as I was about to get put under to have them removed I started to panic. Then my blood went went up to 171/115 and then anesthesiologist refused to put me under with a BP like that. So they cancelled me put I have a pretty bad case of OHSS were I was actually headed to renal failure and almost went to the ER last night cause I was also having trouble breathing. But then before I went to bed I started to feel a little better well with the pain killer I guess that help too anyway this morning I am feeling somewhat better still in a lot of pain and and not totally out of danger yet. I still have to rest and can't do anything strenuous as the Dr has a fear that my ovaries my turn on me and cause a rupture or torsion. anyway all in all this whole cycle was a bust...

OMG...I am so, so sorry.
I'm on the verge of OHSS myself and am petrified that I may freak out at the retrieval because I ended up in the hospital for days last time.
I'm so sorry the cycle was ruined...People think it's great you can make so many follies, but then you have this side of it which is even worse than only having a couple eggs.

omy this sounds so scary. it sounds dumb, but is there anything they can give you that will make them stop growing or make them shrink quick?

Nope...they can't do anything to make them shrink - you have to wait for them to go down on their own. As far as stopping the growing - that is only if they give you the HCG, which I am sure she got and now she probably won't be allowed to BD for a week or so to prevent the chance of multiple conception. Not that she probably wants to, it's extremely uncomfortable to be OHSS.

Nope...they can't do anything to make them shrink - you have to wait for them to go down on their own. when you get this, is it from injectables like follistrum? so do they watch you every day to see how many eggs you are getting and they can stop the injections? obviously i am not familiar with this at all....does this happen a lot?

OMG that is so scary. I'm sorry you have to go through this. Please try to get some rest and drink alot of fluids.
Jules 227: To answer your question I believe OHSS usually occurs in women with PCOS and are good responders to the meds. They can try to control it by giving you lower doseages of the meds but that doesn't always work....unfortunately

Exactly...and it generally happens with IVF cycles since they are trying to get a larger number of follicles. Although, I did have two cancelled IUI cycles due to an overproduction of follicles.

OMG, I'm so sorry. That sucks to get your hopes up to have a cycle, start doing all the meds, only to have it cancelled.
